FARI FONI WAATI #2
FARI FONI WAATI #2
Fari Foni Waati is a dance laboratory and festival in Bamako, Mali. The FFW is dedicated to making original works and performances in Mali ; aiming artistic emergence through dialogue and exchange.
International artists are invited to make an original choreographic work during short residencies with local and international dancers.
Those works are then shown to a broad audience in theaters and unconventional spaces.
The FFW is initiated by De Ceux Qui company (Mali) and organized in partnership with the BlonBa (Mali), the Djinné Club (Mali) and C'est Comment (France). The eeg-cowles Foundation is one of the main contributors to the event.
After a very successful first edition in January 2017, we wish to help them make the second edition, in January 2018, an even bigger one! All the money you give to the eeg-cowles Foundation through this campaign will go to the organization of the Fari Foni Waati#2. Help us in helping them!!
FFW brings a fresh impulse to the dance scene in Mali by offering a new creative platform and performance opportunities.
For the FFW dialogue is at the heart of the creative process for an uplifting artistic development.
FFW is a constructive tool for dance in Mali, participating in advancing dancers' careers.
FFW works towards a better integration of contemporary dance in the Malian performance arts scene. FFW works with local networks and develops partnerships with performance spaces and festival to continue building professional opportunities.
FFW positions itself as part of a development team aiming to open contemporary dance to the largest audience possible. Performances happen both indoors and outdoors, they are free or purposefully offered for a very small fee.
For it's first edition, in January 2017, FFW welcomed internationally renowned choreographers Serge Aimé Coulibaly, Ben Fury and Auguste Ouédraogo. During three weeks they worked together with 16 dancers from Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal and France.
The short pieces were then performed in front of hundreds of people alongside with PerformerS (Cie Auguste-Bienvenue), Le Cauchemar de Darwish (Ben Fury & Simon Thierrée), Goin’Down (Herman Diephuis & Naomi Fall)... and tons more fun !

- shooting a documentary on the event
- and finally, adding more meat to our plates !
