FESTIVAL MODAPERF 2020_IN COVID 19 CONTEXT

<p><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Who are we?</strong></p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/672544/BUCO2468-1593186942.JPG" width="100%" /></p> <p>The artistic company Zora Snake from Cameroon is associating artists sharing the same ideas, the same vision, the same projects around artistic, social, cultural practices to think, create and develop art in public spaces.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/668665/46507846_2170183049688179_7407833655109746688_o-1591469518.jpg" width="100%" /></p> <p>Founded in 2017 by dancer and choreographer Zora Snake, the company dedicate itself to research, dissemination, transmission and artistic diversity on the Cameroonian territory since 3 years :</p> <p>- MODAPERF International Festival</p> <p>- International Projects</p> <p>- Vocational training;</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/668510/ob_fe79b7_affiche-modaperf-2018-1591434412.jpg" width="100%" /></p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/672550/images-1593187899.jpg" width="100%" /></p> <p><strong>The International Festival of Movements, Dances and Performances MODAPERF : </strong></p> <p><strong>MODAPERF 2020-COVID-19</strong> is a project of re-enchantment of artistic productions into public space within a crisis context, the closure of conventional performing spaces and cancellation of artistic meetings worldwide.</p> <p>This edition replaces artistic performances in their original context : in Africa in public space. A specific program that innovates technically on the practice of arts in public space, on the theme: <strong>&quot;OVERCOME OUR FEARS, HOLD THE PRESENT&quot;.</strong><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/672543/MODAperf_1_2020-1593186754.jpg" width="100%" /></p> <p>MODAPERF is an annual meeting for artists from Africa and elsewhere, held in Douala, Yaound&eacute; and Dshang in Cameroon, to build, share, exchange ideas and original proposals.</p> <p>A wider debate on the arts in the streets and alternative spaces will allow us to reflect on a more consequent support policy for these performing and exchange spaces between artists and the audience. The festival will be held from 11 to 22 November 2020.</p> <p>This edition is essential, because we are at an important moment, a tipping point in contemporary history. For this reason, the artist and his work, health policy, social protection, civic commitment and our duty towards all humanity will be questionned. What should we do? Where do we go from here? Is another world conceivable?</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/672545/DSC09464-1593187097.JPG" width="100%" /></p> <p><strong>The International Festival of Movements, Dances and Performances MODAPERF : </strong></p> <p><strong>Origins of the project : </strong></p> <p>The commitment and the vision of the artist Zora Snake, through his multiple performances and artistic approach, allowed the development of the festival of Movements, Dances and Performances.</p> <p>Challenged by the economic and political situation in his country, Zora Snake uses many artistic disciplines for his work as a permanent researcher. He also integrates the dream of some of his collaborators particularly animated by the desire to give a new form to the artistic and aesthetic proposals of the Cameroonian art world.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/672546/DSC09403-1593187339.JPG" width="100%" /></p> <p>Finally, there is the desire to share their visions on dance and performance and to try to break down the barriers between artistic disciplines, especially for those who come from the Hip Hop and street performance scene. Today, the project is growing and it is supported by the Zora Snake Association.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/668729/IMG_8231-1591532021.JPG" width="100%" /></p> <p>The main purpose of the festival is to offer a meeting platform between international and national artists, audience and professionals in order to broaden its aesthetics and research on creation in public space, urban space, new and alternative spaces.</p> <p>The first edition took place from 22 to 24 November 2017 in the city of Yaound&eacute; with the theme &quot;The freedom of creation outside the walls&quot; in a very specific context like ours.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/668731/modaperf9-1591532095.jpg" width="100%" /></p> <p><strong>Counterparties and the role of contributors :</strong></p> <p>Modaperf is a free event, offered to the inhabitants of the host cities. More than ever, we need today everyone&rsquo;s help to implement the Modaperf 2020 Covid-19 project. The first edition of the festival was made possible thanks to some personal support and the French Institutes of Douala and Yaound&eacute;. The following two years, we were able to collect private funds in the form of sponsorship with some companies from the host cities (Yaound&eacute;, Douala and Dschang). Considering the current context and the difficulties that cultural structures and our partners are going through, we need your contributions.</p> <p><strong>We have decided not to give up! The Festival will take place!</strong> It is an act of resilience, coming from us and our friends.
