Instead of giving them a simple answer, Palimpseste prefers to find the perfect analogy between the children's concerns and an African historical figure's life. Thus beginning their travel into the past of those great men and women who made Africa. <img alt="Untitled-2-1502973746" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/445576/Untitled-2-1502973746.png" />     About the show   L'Arbre à Palimpseste ("The Tree of Palimpsest") is a 13x6 min animated tv show, that introduce the greatest African figures of the past. Switching between the present and the past, each episode presents a historical character, narrating the main events of their life and their most famous fights. These heroic characters aren't limited to one region of Africa : they come from the whole continent. We want to talk about a shared history, about those who made and transformed Africa. Frontiers move, people migrate, kingdoms rise and fall : we wish to tell the story of Africa, without any kind of limits.  <img alt="Untitled-19-1503049168" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/445704/Untitled-19-1503049168.png" /> <img alt="Zingha_on_a_horse-1503066384" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/445749/Zingha_on_a_horse-1503066384.jpg" />     Work in progress   L'Arbre à Palimpseste is a long term project. In 2016, we already produced a first pilot in Paris, with our own funds. This pilot was selected for the finale of the  Festival international du film d'animation d'Annecy - MIFA Pitches Animation du Monde TOP 6 of DISCOP ! This competition was the platform to meet  new partners, including Basement Animation, a Nigerian studio which offered us its partnership.  <img alt="Untitled-9-1502975609" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/445584/Untitled-9-1502975609.png" /> Our goal now is to win the finale in October, and therefore to be present for the Annecy's MIFA 2018. With all these in play, we have to keep improving on our pilot, but we are limited in fund raising. That’s why we need your help.<img alt="Untitled-8-1503049040" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/445703/Untitled-8-1503049040.png" />       Why this show ?   From inception, African legends are told orally, from one generation to the next. This oral tradition saved a several–thousand-year-old heritage, thus building a history that take place at the frontier of myth and reality.   But today, this transmission is fading away. This is the memory of a whole continent that slowly disappears. That's why we wish to contribute to this culture's transmission, to share the history and values that raised countless generations.   A palimpsest is a parchment whose content was erased so that we could use it again to write something else. Allocation of funds

Despite our partnerships in France and in Africa, several tv broadcasters are still careful about the idea of developing a show on African History.   Our goal now is to produce the most accomplished and ambitious pilot possible, in order to present to the broadcasters the full potential of our show, but also to show them the interest it raises in festivals and with the public.   This is why we need your help. We already invested several thousands of euros on the conception of the two pilots, and we estimated we can finish this episode by raising an additional 6000€, divided accordingly : <img alt="Untitled-13_veng-1503308331" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/445957/Untitled-13_vENG-1503308331.png" /> These 6000€ represent the minimum threshold that will allow us to finish the production of the pilot, even if it will be difficult and we will have to make drastic cuts in the most ambitious scenes. This is why we also created additional stretch goals we hope to achieve in order to develop our ideas to their full potential :   2nd goal  : 9,000€ We would be able to hire more animators and designers, therefore improving our visuals and making the animation smoother and more alive. Reward: Digital artbook for ALL donators.   3rd goal : 15,000€ We could now bring our vision to life without limiting ourselves because of budget reasons. It would also be the undeniable proof that there is a real request from the audience for tv programs about Africa, therefore helping us in our approach with the tv channels ! Reward: After the projection, ALL donators will be invited to a cocktail party in Paris with our team.   4th goal : 30,000€ Let's celebrate : it's time to think beyond the pilot and to make plans for the whole season ! Negotiations with broadcasters would still be necessary, but this goal would guarantee us enough cash flow to take care of most of the remaining expenses by ourselves.
