Celle ci continuera en France &agrave; notre retour!</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> Meeting with Yuppa</div> <div> After 3 months of cycling, we separated from our friend on 2 wheels in Bangkok to go to the south of Thailand.</div> <div> It is at the gateway to the city of Phuket that is located the pretty family farm of Yuppa. It was created only 7 months ago.</div> <div> We are welcomed by the brother of Yuppa who works here. We visit the place with him and we are impressed by everything that was built and cultivated in such a short time: a kitchen, 3 rooms for the volunteers, an open bathroom, many trees, a large quantity of fruits and vegetables ...</div> <div> Yuppa arrives in turn and we discuss their settlement here, their projects and the increasing importance of organic farming and permaculture in Thailand.</div> <div> Yuppa knows many communities we have visited, including two years with Beau and Lin at Raktamachat Community. Her various experiences and her university training in the field of agriculture allow her to teach permaculture today. She decided to found her own organic garden after a professional transfer of her husband. She is helped by her brother, an employer, her mother and many volunteers.</div> <div> The climate here is very different from that of northern Thailand which impacts on fruit and vegetable production. Yuppa would like to grow strawberries (a very difficult thing in the south of the country because of the heavy heat). For this she thinks of using a system of spraying very fresh water, which she learned at the university.</div> <div> While discussing our respective projects, we exchange seeds. Yuppa explains that it is difficult to find healthy seeds in this part of the country. She has a large variety of seeds that she has sent to friends, because of the floods of recent months, to shelter them.</div> <div> The next day, Yuppa&#39;s brother tells us how to make adobe bricks to build a house. The different stages are: mixing the soil (previously filtered to remove the large stones) with straw and some sand, then put this paste in a wooden mold, taking care to pack it well, remove the mold and wait 7 or 8 days than dry bricks. He thinks he needs about 2 months to put up a building with these bricks (about 1500) and wooden beams. A beautiful project in perspective amidst all those who bloom in the head of Yuppa. These beautiful meetings will close our seed exchange project in South East Asia.</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> Facebook: Phuket Food Forest</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> Thank you all for following us and supporting us throughout our adventure. This one will continue in France on our return!</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_7298-1487662122" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/395511/IMG_7298-1487662122.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_7281-1487662157" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/395512/IMG_7281-1487662157.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_7292-1487662196" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/395513/IMG_7292-1487662196.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_7290-1487662240" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/395514/IMG_7290-1487662240.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_7296-1487662275" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/395515/IMG_7296-1487662275.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_7283-1487662478" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/395518/IMG_7283-1487662478.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_7293-1487662532" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/395519/IMG_7293-1487662532.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_7316-1487662359" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/395516/IMG_7316-1487662359.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_7319-1487662395" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/395517/IMG_7319-1487662395.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> &nbsp;</div>

About twenty kilometers from Ubon Ratchathani (Thailand), we discover the center Bhudathum Promwachirayan Virtue. We meet the monk Prakru Sukhoomwannopart and Worawan, an English teacher who takes care of the translation because the monk does not speak English at all.</div> <div> The visit of the center is pleasant to the setting sun and the places breathe the calm and the serenity. We discover many trees including many bananas, plantations of fruits and vegetables scattered on the ground, rice fields, ducks, a cow and ponds where many fish are fed and then fished by the villagers. These bodies of water are deeply dug (7 or 8 m) to irrigate the crops during the dry period. The center is based on the principles of agriculture erected by the ancient king Bhumibol. In short, it is a question of privileging the diversification of cultures (and therefore risks), of achieving self-sufficiency (first producing to meet one&#39;s needs and then thinking about exchanging and / or selling production ) And always keep the principle of moderation. Training on this type of agriculture and on Buddhism is regularly conducted in this center.</div> <div> After discussing our project, their community and Buddhism, we exchange seeds. The monk asks us 9 seeds of each variety (this is a lucky number in Thailand). In return he gives us many seeds from his garden.</div> <div> The next morning at dawn, the monk invites us to follow him during the offerings ceremony. One of the 227 rules a monk must respect is not to accumulate or buy food. It therefore depends on the offerings made by the villagers. They wait for him every day to give him sticky rice and other dishes or cakes. Returning to the center, the offerings are shared with members of the community. That morning, after each donation, we had to give a pair of flip-flops to each villager to thank him. So the monk included us in the ceremony. This visit was really interesting and informative.</div> <div> On the road to Laos!</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5623-1485689954" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/388071/IMG_5623-1485689954.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5624-1485690059" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/388072/IMG_5624-1485690059.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5631-1485690599" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/388075/IMG_5631-1485690599.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5634-1485690812" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/388078/IMG_5634-1485690812.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5666-1485691155" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/388083/IMG_5666-1485691155.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5664-1485692102" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/388094/IMG_5664-1485692102.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5650-1485691367" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/388088/IMG_5650-1485691367.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> &nbsp;</div>

After driving about sixty kilometers from Nakhon Ratchasima, here we are in a small village in search of the Thai Permaculture Institute. We finally land at the right address where we are warmly welcomed by Howard (Canadian), his wife Nong (Thai) and two trainees (an Australian and a Swiss) who came to study permaculture.</div> <div> After more than 30 years of career at IBM, Howard chose to settle in Thailand for simplicity and quality life. It has now been 12 years that he participates in the maintenance and development of Nong&#39;s farm and his family based on the principles of permaculture. This community has almost achieved food self-sufficiency thanks to its large production of rice, fruits, vegetables, meat (chickens, ducks, cows), fish, rice noodles and eggs. They defined different spaces according to the design of the permaculture, the objective being that each element of the ground can bring more than it consumes. They have set up an edible forest, an intensive garden space, three ponds, a rice bank, a henhouse, a compost zone, the houses built by their care ... They give and / or sell the surplus and barter what they lack with their neighbors.</div> <div> In a desire to transmit, they give the help of other trainers, the PDC (Permaculture Design Courses) over 2 weeks and then propose to those who want to stay 3 months on their farm in order to put into practice this learning. We are pleased to have been able to discuss the different lifestyles, the permaculture, the changes in process, and to have contributed to the diversity of their garden thanks to the Thai, Laotian and French seeds that we have exchanged.</div> <div> Beautiful perma-meetings!</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> Facebook: Howard Story ou PErmaculture Institute of Thailand</div> <div> Internet: www.permacultureInstituteAsia.com</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5556-1484996618" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/385688/IMG_5556-1484996618.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5551-1484996726" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/385690/IMG_5551-1484996726.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5559-1484996842" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/385691/IMG_5559-1484996842.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5564-1484996932" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/385692/IMG_5564-1484996932.JPG" /></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <img alt="Img_5571-1484996976" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/385693/IMG_5571-1484996976.JPG" /></div>

The farm of Beau (Am&eacute;ricain) and Lin (Thai) located 75km west of Nakhon Ratchasima, is in a beautiful setting. In 5 years, with volunteers from all over the world, they built many adobe buildings surrounded by pretty ponds away from the city. They have worked hard to create fourteen teak bungalows in which volunteers are housed, sanitary facilities, a classroom, their house, a common place of life including kitchen, living room, mini bar, dining room, compartment space, billiards. After doing construction every day for several years, they started planting several thousand trees around their homes and cultivating a garden based on the principles of permaculture. The latter now feeds about 60% of the family and the many volunteers who come to help or take courses in permaculture and / or green building. In a desire to increase their self-sufficiency, Lin manufactures soap, shampoo, toothpaste, laundry and herbal household products. They have many varieties of fruits and vegetables from which they keep the seeds in a furnished room. So we have been able to exchange many healthy seeds for their nursery. Ces derniers ajout&eacute;s &agrave; la r&eacute;colte du riz (5 hectares) permettent en partie de nourrir sa famille, ses employ&eacute;s et d&#39;approvisionner le restaurant de son h&ocirc;tel.</div> <div> Facebook: The Elephant Crossing Hotel in Vang Vieng</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <p> KM 1650: Meeting with Rachel.</p> <p> <span style="color: rgb(33, 33, 33); font-family: Roboto-Regular, HelveticaNeue, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);">After several days of tandem efforts on the hazardous roads of northern Laos, we are rewarded with the idyllic setting of Vang Vieng: a small town surrounded by karstic reliefs, rice paddies and caves. It is here that we meet Rachel, an Australian owner of 2 hotels and settled in Laos for 25 years. Finally, we were able to ask questions and learn more about agriculture in Laos, the language barrier being a problem so far.</span></p> <div style="margin-top: 0.66em; color: rgb(33, 33, 33); font-family: Roboto-Regular, HelveticaNeue, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"> Organic agriculture is poorly developed in Laos. The mysterious disappearance in 2012 of Sombath Somphone, defender of small farmers and the environment, put a stop to the development of methods of sustainable agriculture. This unfavorable context for ecological initiatives isolates farmers. The lack of means of exchange and encounters makes apparently difficult access to healthy and reproducible seeds. Ta, a Laotian farmer met in Vientiane told us he was buying Thai seeds on the internet for want of a better one.</span></p> <p> <span style="color: rgb(33, 33, 33); font-family: Roboto-Regular, HelveticaNeue, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">As for Rachel, she gets them in Australia. It was around a breakfast, facing the green mountains and the river that we exchanged seeds with Rachel. These new varieties will allow it to diversify its fruit and vegetable production. The latter, coupled with the rice harvest (5 hectares), help to feed his family, his employees and to supply the restaurant of his hotel.</span></p> <p> <img alt="Img_5134-1483171391" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/380601/IMG_5134-1483171391.JPG" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <img alt="Img_5135-1483171429" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/380602/IMG_5135-1483171429.JPG" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <img alt="Img_5137-1483171461" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/380603/IMG_5137-1483171461.JPG" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <img alt="Img_5153-1483171581" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/380604/IMG_5153-1483171581.JPG" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <img alt="Img_5142-1483171695" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/380605/IMG_5142-1483171695.JPG" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> &nbsp;</p>

Nous avons pu mettre la main &agrave; la p&acirc;te en l&#39;aidant &agrave; nettoyer sa ferme aux champignons dans une ambiance d&eacute;tendue.</div> <div> Merci pour ces bons moments d&#39;&eacute;change.</div> <div> En route pour le Laos!</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> Facebook: AK Farm Stay</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> <strong>Kilometer 863: Meeting with Kelly</strong></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> Kelly and his parents take care of an organic farm near the small village of Phan, about 60km from Chiang Rai, in the heart of the Thai countryside. Kelly is a thirty-year-old who decided to return to live and work with his parents on the farm.</div> <div> We were warmly greeted on the family farm where two volunteers Ash and Julia came to spend a week. Kelly made us discover Thai food and homemade &quot;whiskey&quot;. He introduced us to his friends and explained the local life (building a temple in his village).</div> <div> On a daily basis, Kelly continues his father&#39;s work by cultivating fruits and vegetables as well as the 8 hectares of rice fields. He sows and harvests the rice to resell it (at a ridiculous price: 0.18 &euro; / kg) to a cooperative that makes it dry and packs it for resale.</div> <div> He learned through internet how to grow mushrooms and he built a farm in bamboo to grow them in the shelter of light. His mother takes care of selling them on the village market.</div> <div> These various activities allow the family to live.</div> <div> Kelly plans to develop its mushroom farm, to dry its rice to resell it directly, to plant new vegetables and to develop the technique of earthworm composting.</div> <div> During the few days spent with Kelly, we had time to give him healthy seeds from Thailand (thanks to our previous exchanges) and France. This establishment is a corner of peace and greenery in the heart of the city of Chiang Mai. Xavier, a Frenchman settled for 14 years in Thailand and his Thai wife Nathalie welcomed us in their eco-responsible guesthouse. In order to reduce the impact of their activity on the environment, numerous initiatives have been put in place: energy savings, reduction of plastic waste, loan of bicycles, production of natural products, promotion of short circuits for supply of their restaurant. Since 2015, thanks to their studies in permaculture, Nathalie and Xavier decided to experiment with urban permaculture in their establishment. They have, among other things, replaced plants with vegetables and fruit trees, they are currently putting in place an ingenious system of recovery and treatment of water and they use several techniques of composting their waste. Both pass on their passion and knowledge through lectures and workshops. Xavier and Nathalie also address future generations by actively supporting the Maison de Permaculture pour les enfants (<a href="http://permaculturechildrenshouse.org" target="_blank">http://permaculturechildrenshouse.org</a>). This learning system is inspired by the principles of permaculture, the Montessori model of education, and transmits knowledge about art, cooking and foreign languages. It is in this dynamic of exchange and collaborative work that we have discussed and exchanged seeds that promise to sow a bright future.</p> <p> More informations:&nbsp;<a href="http://coolguesthouse.com/" target="_blank">http://coolguesthouse.com/</a></p> <p> Facebook: Cool Guesthouse</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <img alt="Img_0004-1480258040" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/372515/IMG_0004-1480258040.JPG" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <img alt="Img_0001-1480258219" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/372519/IMG_0001-1480258219.jpg" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <img alt="Img_0002-1480258261" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/372521/IMG_0002-1480258261.jpg" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <img alt="Img_0007-1480258314" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/372522/IMG_0007-1480258314.JPG" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <img alt="Img_0009-1480258357" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/372524/IMG_0009-1480258357.JPG" /></p> <p> &nbsp;</p>

En selle!</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> Plus d&#39;infos:&nbsp;<a href="http://www.watcharafarm.com" target="_blank">http://www.watcharafarm.com</a></div> <div> Sur Facebook:&nbsp;<a href="https://m.facebook.com/Watchara-home-stay-farm-750644274956558/" target="_blank">Watchara home stay farm</a></div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> Second stage: Meeting with Watchara and his family.</div> <div> &nbsp;</div> <div> Located 60km north west of Chiang Mai, the Watchara family farm is nestled in a beautiful setting amidst the mountains, as beautiful as difficult to climb in tandem! It is around a wood fire while enjoying sticky rice cooked in bamboo that Watchara told us his story.</div> <div> After having been a tourist guide for many years, it is in 2015 that Watchara and his family decided to change their way of life and leave the city of Chiang Mai and its fast pace to buy land near Samoeng and discover the Trade of farmers. Wishing to share this experience, they built bungalows in bamboo to welcome volunteers from all over the world. They are invited to share the family&#39;s daily life by helping them on the farm, sharing meals with them and practicing meditation in the evening before going to bed.</div> <div> In his search for well-being and good health, Watchara decided not to use any chemicals on his plantations and to ban hybrid seeds. Indeed, their seeds come from exchanges with their neighbors and from their own production.</div> <div> During our visit, we were pleased to give them new varieties of seeds that will contribute to the diversity of their production.</div> <div> We also had the pleasure of receiving their healthy and reproducible seeds that we will share in our turn in the coming weeks.
