This manual is all the more interesting in light of the fact that, for the second time in a year, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has designated psilocybin therapy — currently being tested in clinical trials — as a "breakthrough therapy", an action that aims to accelerate the generally slow process of drug development and testing. It is generally requested by a pharmaceutical company and is only granted when preliminary evidence suggests that the drug may represent a huge improvement over the therapy already available, according to the FDA.
