Smadj (à la fois oudiste et musicien électronique) a marqué de son empreinte de nombreux projets : 7 albums sous son nom, 3 albums avec DuOud (Mehdi Haddab/Smadj), de nombreuses collaborations et réalisations artistiques (Burhan Öcal, Laurent de Wilde, Natacha Atlas, Erik Truffaz, Talvin Singh, Ibrahim Maalouf, Ballake Sissoko…).

Il est une des figures incontournables du Oud moderne, musicien et "producer", il a su redonner ses lettres de noblesse à cet instrument en l'entourant des musiques actuelles et en collaborant avec des musiciens de jazz, électroniques et traditionnels.

Son duo avec Mehdi Haddab "Duoud" en est l'une des meilleures illustrations... 2 tours du monde avec un "Wild Serenade" qui a révolutionné le monde du Oud

Le dernier projet de Smadj est un projet solo « Smadj Solotronic ».

Pourtant c’est bien plus qu’un solo dont il s’agira in fine : c’est le fruit de rencontres incessantes, de musiciens découverts au détour d’un désert ou d’un quartier de Cape Town.

Un objet nomade et ouvert à tous les vents.

Un solo chaque fois enrichi par la richesse des musiciens rencontrés, débusqués sur la route.

Depuis mars 2016, ce sont 60 concerts dans plus de 12 pays, de l’Afrique de l’Est à la Chine, en passant pas l’Australie, la Turquie, le Maroc, Israel, l’Afrique du Sud et le Zimbabwe.

D’autres territoires déjà se profilent, ouvrant de nouvelles voies. On murmure la Russie, l’Algérie, Cuba et la Colombie…

A format exceptionnel, montage exceptionnel.

L’album, articulé en deux volets, ne rentre dans aucunes cases.

Il s’agit pour l’instant de sortir l’album solo, le répertoire déjà éprouvé sur les routes, qui mêle inédits et titres de répertoire.

L’album offrant le fruit des rencontres(Solotronic All Stars), orchestrées et enregistrées par Smadj durant ses multiples périples sortira dans un second temps.

The last project of Smadj is a solo project "Smadj Solotronic".
