Many children and orphans in Morocco have limited opportunity to express themselves artistically. We are travelling to Casablanca to share our enthusiasm for creating beauty by giving them the opportunity for hands on participation in art and music. Willemijn will educate them about colors, shapes and the fun of creating things. Noelle will introduce musical instruments, songs, movement and rhythm. We will be giving workshops in orphanages to groups of kids age 3-12.

Noelle traveled to Casablanca in March 2013 and had an opportunity to work with a local association that provides protection, education and health care for children in need. She was able to interact with the children in one of their establishments and the association invited her to return and continue working with the kids.

A few months later Noelle and Willemijn decided to embark upon a journey back to Casablanca together. As they both have a desire to share their artistic talents and learn from other cultures, they will make a great team for this particular endeavor.

In addition to introducing art and music to younger children, they will also have the opportunity to work with older children who have some experience in these areas and would like to grow in their skills but who cannot afford to pay for art or music lessons. Furthermore, in some of the centers, local teachers will be observing Noelle and Willemijn to gain fresh ideas for how to continue artistic development with the children.

They also plan to find ways to connect with local artists in art schools and music conservatories. They look forward to learning from the artistic culture of Morocco and hope that new friendships will allow for collaboration in future projects.

Airplane tickets have already been purchased. The amount of this fundraiser will cover lodging, food, local transportation, art supplies and small musical instruments for the children.

Noelle and Willemijn see this trip as a time to explore opportunities and start something that they can build upon later. They envision that this trip might be the start of a long-term and valuable partnership with each other and local associations and artists in Casablanca. The experience will also help Noelle and Willemijn to each grow in their personal artistic careers as this trip will encourage them to step out of their comfort zones, stretch their capacities and bring new inspiration to their art.

Au Maroc, nombre d’enfants et d’orphelins n’ont pas accès à l’expression artistique. Nous partons à Casablanca pour partager notre enthousiasme à créer de la beauté et pour leur donner la possibilité d’essayer la musique et le dessin. Willemijn va enseigner les couleurs, les formes et à s’amuser avec elles. Noelle fera découvrir instruments de musique, chansons, mouvement et rythmes. Les ateliers se passeront dans des orphelinats avec des enfants de 3 à 12 ans.

En mars 2013, Noelle est allée à Casablanca et a travaillé avec une association locale qui fournit une protection, une éducation et des soins médicaux à des enfants pauvres. Elle a eu l’opportunité de passer du temps dans l’un de leurs établissements et l’association l’a invitée à revenir pour continuer le travail avec les petits.

Suite à cette première expérience, Noelle et Willemijn ont décidé de retourner à Casablanca ensemble. Comme elles ont toutes les deux le désir de partager leurs talents artistiques et d’apprendre au contact de cultures différentes, elles forment une excellente équipe pour ce projet !

Au-delà de la découverte musicale et picturale auprès des plus jeunes enfants, elles souhaitent aussi travailler avec des enfants plus grands ayant déjà une expérience artistique et qui souhaitent la développer mais n’en ont pas les moyens. Noelle et Willemijn proposeront aussi aux enseignants locaux de participer pour observer d’autres pratiques et méthodes d’enseignement.

Elles vont également prendre contact avec des artistes marocains dans les écoles d’art et les conservatoires de musique. Elles cherchent à mieux connaitre la culture du Maroc et espèrent que de nouvelles amitiés conduiront à des projets communs !

Noelle et Willemijn conçoivent ce voyage comme une exploration qui permettra de construire quelque chose à plus long terme. Elles espèrent qu’il sera le début d’une collaboration fructueuse avec des associations et des artistes de Casablanca ainsi qu’une source d’inspiration pour leurs propres pratiques. Elles s’attendent à sortir de leur zone de confort et à être poussées aux limites de leurs capacités, et à ce que leur art soit transformé.

Les billets d’avions sont déjà payés. Le montant de cette levée de fond va couvrir le logement, la nourriture, les transports sur place, les fournitures de dessin et des petits instruments de musique pour les enfants.
