The Dandanoo Association wants to say that this project has not fallen. It is only this initial fundraising-campaign that has failed. We are now working on another solution.

To run an internet-based campaign from Africa in just one month, when there's not even electricity half the time etc, has prooven to be too much.

The project-leader who is still in Gambia was a week ago about to fully give up from discouragement and exhaustion. The circumstances can be extremely challenging, with un-ceirtanties and in-effectivities everywhere. There is this african tempo of things., and we are now also in the raining-season.

It took such a long time to get this fundraising-campaign onto the internet, that we almost thought it would never happen. We were almost surprised and clearly somewhat un-prepared. It has simply been too many complications involved, and people have failed in their responsabilities. We are now re-organising ourselves.

As a gambian association working for the well-being of the environment and the communities, we are now looking to network with NGOs and other organisations within the country.

The fundraising strategy has therefore only changed, and it is good to already at this point make connections locally. It means that we are being seen and supported from the beginning, and that the programmes can continue their operations for quite some time. It was always our intention to grow roots locally, so we are after all quite pleased with the outcome of all this.

Tomorrow morning we have prepared to go and see "Action Aid International The Gambia".

Then we will also see about approaching ''The Forestry Department'', ''Green-Up Gambia'', "Climate Watch - The Gambia" ,"Ministry of Environ, Climate Change & Natural Resources-The Gambia", ''Global Environment Facility'',"Global Change Makers" and ''Natural Disaster Management Comittee''.

We thank those of you who found us here on the internet, and please keep following us on facebook. From now on we hope to become more rooted in the gambian system, and the support from local NGOs and organisations will ensure the progress and success of this association.
