Mira to Kenya with PWB

The Project: For the third year in a row, British organisation Performers Without Borders are going to Kenya this spring.

The goal is to perform and teach circus in a way that create conditions for the participants for long term training plans that can go on after PWB volunteers goes home. Me: This year, me, Mira is going with them for the first time. I´ve got a Bachelor Degree in circus and experience from teaching, performing and similar projects with Clowns Without Borders. Im also quite involved in social work with Stockholm City Mission, where I´ve been involved in different projects supporting newly arrived immigrants and homeless people. Now Im ready for new projects in new places and Im sure that Circus is the best medium to use!

This tour will be unlike anything I´ve ever done before. Im preparing for a ten week creation/workshop/bootcamp/adventure where I´ll get to meet tons of new colleagues and circus entusiasts, and hopefully learn one or two new tricks myself from the Kenyan acrobat culture. The tour starts on the 3rd of January and goes on for ten weeks, until the middle of March. It is a great chance, for me, but also for the young Kenyan talents who gets to experience the magic of circus and get training input and inspiration from the European scene.

All that is missing, is a little little bit of money.

Budget:

Performers Without Borders ask their volunteers to contribute with 850 £(around 960€) to cover our housing, food and travels for the ten weeks. Except for this amount, I am also counting on:

-500 € for plane ticket

-100 € for vaccinations

-140€ other expenses. Such as housing for the first night in Nairobi and travel within Sweden.

The total budget for the trip lands on about 1700€ for ten weeks. As you can see, Im only asking you for half of that amount. That is because if i receive, only, 850€ I could still manage to cover the rest with private savings, and some extra hours of other work. Meaning, the more money i receive, the better, it will all go into the budget of this trip.

In exchange, I will be forever grateful and able to spread good circus Karma all around the world. Read more about PWB and their previous Kenya tours on: PWB.ngo

Thank you for your time/ Mira

Because all kids deserve some circus in their life! By creating fun ways of learning giving, kids the experience of success by training, we encourage the kids self confidence and personal strength. Not to mention how fun it is with circus! It is a global language that does not require verbal communication and is therefor a perfect way to bound and exchange with other cultures. Performers Without Borders is a reliable organisation cooperating with local actors to build long-term and sustainable relations with communities where they are active.
