The audio component is a collage pieced together from youtube videos documenting student protests around the country in the 2008-2016. The small paper sculpture is home to the piece. The form is inspired by the monumental entrance of University of Tehran and it's fragility by the memories and friendships formed those years.</p> <p>-</p> <p>Yasi Alipour présentera une ode au mouvement des étudiants iraniens. A reference to Isaac Asimov’s laws of robotics. </p> <p>Technologies are now merging at high speed, notably robotics and artificial intelligence. It raises a lot of questions about the man-machine relation. Tainted with dark humor, this dystopian anthropomorphization also underlines the fears that robotics engenders. How automated do we want our world, our body to be? What physical, moral and legal framework should we use? What consequences for human life? Which post-work society should we build? Isn't it time to reinvent the school? At the turn of the century, questions related to automation are popping up in everyone’s mind. We will have to answers them collectively, if possible.</p> <p>-</p> <p>The Punishment est une installation dans laquelle un robot exécute une punition préventive au titre de son éventuelle désobéissance future. Une référence aux lois de la robotique d'Isaac Asimov.</p> <p>Anthropomorphisation d’anticipation, l’œuvre nous interroge non sans humour sur les relations homme-machine au moment même où les technologies se combinent, notamment robotique et intelligence artificielle. L’installation soulève les peurs que la robotique engendre pour mieux les déconstruire et surtout questionner la place de l’automatisation dans nos sociétés. Quel cadre physique, moral et juridique donner à cet usage ? Quelle école et au-delà, quel contrat social réinventer ? En ce début de siècle, les questions liées à l’automatisation se bousculent. Il va nous falloir y apporter, si possible collectivement, nos réponses.</p>

She received her MFA from Columbia University in 2018. She is sewing up the nostalgia inherited from the trauma of the last generation, in the hope of an oral history that may well shelter her dreams of the challenging civil society of the last century. </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>ZINEB ANDRESS ARRAKI</strong> (1984, Casablanca) grew up in Casablanca before pursuing her architectural studies in Marseille and Paris. At the Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture, she met her mentor and professor Lionel Lemire, who introduced her to "the observation of irregularities in the world's skin," she said. This meeting is the beginning of a questioning that will refine her positioning in front of the world in which she lives. Her final thesis, "What if black made architecture?" is the genesis of her work as an architect and artist. It defines reading grids. Zineb Andress Arraki's works are the result of the encounters of her life, the situations she has to face. She invents her own rules of the game to share her feelings. Her practice combines art-chitecture, photography, sculpture, scenography and video.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>MO BAALA </strong>(1986, Casablanca) lives and works in Marrakech and Taroudant. A self-taught multimedia artist, Mo Baala spent his childhood and youth in the heart of the souks and bazaars of his hometown, Taroudant in southern Morocco. His passion for reading, cinema, music and philosophy, as well as his particular interest in traditional arts and crafts in Morocco, Africa and elsewhere, constitute the essence of his intensive artistic and creative education. Mohammed uses drawing, painting, graffiti, collage and sculpture. He creates installations in which he performs poetic and musical performances, practices land art and explores photography and digital drawing. He is also a fan of action painting, street art and frescoes. Recycling, music and poetry occupy an essential place in his artistic practice. Since 2016 and its emergence on the international artistic scene on the occasion of the Biennale of Marrakech 6, he has participated in a series of group exhibitions (Morocco, France, Italy...) and a solo show "Be Your Heart" at the Comptoir des Mines Galerie. He has been represented at several international art fairs &amp; exhibitions. (YIA, AKKA &amp; 1:54 London with Gallery 127, Saout Africa(s) - SAVVY Funk - Documenta 14, The Others Art Fair with the Kech Collective &amp; CMOOA 2016/2017 auctions...). </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>YOUNES BABA-ALI </strong>(1986, Oujda) is a visual and sound artist who works between Casablanca and Brussels. Graduated from the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg in 2008, and from the Ecole Supérieure d'Art d'Aix-en-Provence in 2011, he was awarded the "Léopold Sédar Senghor" prize at the Biennale d'art contemporain africain de Dakar (Sn) in 2012 and the "Boghossian" prize, in Brussels (Be) in 2014. She designs films, sound installations, graphic works that explore the processes of decentralization, treat micro-histories, explore family archives, unfamiliar processes related to utopias. His latest works have been presented in Arab Territories in Constantine, Arab Capital of Culture 2015, and Made in Algeria at MuCEM in Marseille, 2016.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>REGINE BASHA</strong> is a Brooklyn-based contemporary art curator and producer of tuningbaghdad.net. For the past two decades, she has curated international exhibitions and public projects, with a particular focus on sound installation and musical cultures. Basha was born in Israel to Iraqi parents and grew up in Montreal, Los Angeles and New York where she attended Iraqi Jewish gatherings throughout her childhood... Basha is currently Director in Residence at Pioneer Works. She is also a private consultant and can bring more than 20 years of experience in the development of start-up residencies, non-profit organizations, artists' projects, master's thesis exhibitions, public art production and art collection development. She studied art history at New York University and conservation studies at Bard College, graduating in 1996.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>OMAR BERRADA</strong> is a writer and curator, and director of Dar al-Ma'mûn, a library and artists' residence in Marrakech. Previously, he organized public programs at the Centre Pompidou, hosted programs on French national radio, directed the Salon international du livre de Tanger and co-directed the Global Art Forum in Dubai. He is editor, with Erik Bullot, of Expanded Translation - A Treason Treatise, a book of verbal and visual betrayals; and, with Yto Barrada, of Album - Cinémathèque de Tanger, a multilingual volume on cinema in Tangier and Tangier in cinema.  His translations include books by Jalalal Toufic, Stanley Cavell and Joan Retallack. His poems have been published in Wave Composition, Asymptote, Seedings, and the University of California's North African Literature Book, among others. He recently published The Africans, a book on migration and racial politics in Morocco, and curated M'barek Bouhchichi's solo exhibition at the Galerie Kulte in Rabat, "Black Hands". In 2016, he curated exhibitions at the Marrakech Biennale and the Witte de With in Rotterdam, focusing on the work and archives of writer and filmmaker Ahmed Bouanani, of whom he is currently the editor of the posthumous history of Moroccan cinema. In 2017, Omar was guest curator of the Abraaj Group Art Prize and co-editor of the web magazine tamawuj.org of the Sharjah Biennale. He was curator of the 2018 editions of Forum 1-54, in New York and Marrakech. Currently living in New York, he teaches at The Cooper Union where he co-organizes the IDS lecture series.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>FILIPE VILAS-BOAS</strong> (1981, Barcelos, Portugal) is a Franco-Portuguese artist born in 1981. He lives and works in Ivry-sur-Seine. A conceptual artist playing with the porosity between the IRL and URL worlds, his creations combine recovery, diversion and new media. Without falling into the trap of naive technophilia or technophobia, it collectively questions us about our digital practices and their political, social and environmental repercussions. A self-taught artist, his practice began 10 years ago with interventions in the public space, in parallel with his first activity as a designer. He exhibited at the FIT Freie Internationale Tankstelle in Berlin in 2008. From 2014, he participates in Nuit Blanche Paris at the Saint-Eustache church. In 2015, he presented his first solo exhibition at the Flaq Gallery in Paris and participated the same year at the Musée Passager. He now regularly exhibits his installations in France and abroad. This year, his work was highlighted in the book "Portuguese Emerging Art" and his works were presented in Italy, Greece, Poland, Mexico and France as part of two major group exhibitions: "Humain Demain" in Toulouse at the Quai des Savoirs and "1.2.3 Data" at the EDF Foundation in Paris. </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>MATTHIEU BOUCHERIT </strong>(1986, Cholet) lives and works in Paris. In a plastic vocabulary inspired by the chemical and physical principles of photography, Matthieu Boucherit approaches the political destiny of images and our relationship to them through the paradoxes of a moral society in conflict with itself. Navigating from drawing to painting and from installation to atmosphere creation, his works belong to a hyper-realistic register, whose definitions he moves. This prior objectification does not reinforce the neutrality of the gaze, but makes reality built by society, the media and all the industries of the imagination, a raw material, from which it unfolds the horrors and reveals the hidden truth. Faced with what can be said or done, his work addresses the problem of sharing the sensitive in the division of time and space, the visible and the enunciable, the spoken and the noisy, which defines both the place and the challenge of politics. Whether archival or vernacular, public or personal, each of these documents becomes the means by which its political or commercial functioning will be neutralized, reified or obliterated. Between appearance and disappearance, his work exploits latency, the expectation of a revelation that escapes the frontality of the cliché and summons the intimacy of an encounter. That a constant interest in the social context manifests itself in his work does not imply that the artist should produce a representation that would double the environment in which we live. On the contrary, it is a question of pushing the hyper digestibility of the images to their tipping point. In this way, a set of reversibilities of the different media, points of view, collective and personal histories is created. If his work sets the conditions for a contemporary drama, it should be recalled that the etymology of the word drama refers to action. It is therefore to better weave action and say it in new political scenes capable of breaking the laws of representation that Matthieu Boucherit dramatizes. By becoming a playwright, he does not impose his ideas, he stages them, gives them to the eye and leaves everyone the possibility to destratify the images or simply contemplate them.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>M'BAREK BOUHCHICHI</strong> (1975, Akka) lives and works in Tahanaout, where he teaches. Through several media, Bouhchichi develops a work around an attempt to speak based on the exploration of the limits between our inner discourse and its extensions towards the outside, towards the present, towards others. He places his works at the crossroads of aesthetics and social issues, exploring fields of association as possibilities for rewriting oneself.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>AMINE BOUSHABA</strong> (Ma), Journalist and cultural columnist, currently at the Economist.  Amine Boushaba has hosted several cultural programs including "Atlantic Café", talk show info and culture on Atlantic radio, of which he was editor-in-chief. He was also at the origin of the first art and culture magazine "aumaroc". Before taking an interest in the promotion and engineering of culture, Amine Boushaba worked for a long time in the associative field, notably ALCS and the Maghreb Mashreq Alliance for Water. He is currently Vice-President of Casamémoire, an association for the preservation of the architectural heritage of the 20th century in Morocco and is also at the origin of the creation of "l'Art de donner", an association that combines the promotion of young artists, democratization of access to art and child relief. With Jamal Abdenasser, he created the concept of "La Chaise Rouge" which gives a voice to "cultural agitators" as he likes to call them (artists, intellectuals, cultural actors) to describe the state of culture in Morocco and give recommendations so that culture is at the heart of development strategies in Morocco.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>RAPHAËL CHARPENTIÉ </strong>(1979, France) lives and works between Strasbourg, Karlsruhe and Seoul. His multidisciplinary and self-contained artistic practice leads him to consider himself as a generator of forms and proposals. This young architect, a graduate of ENSAPVS, now works in Dakar where she settled after her studies. Carole Diop chairs the Afrikadaa association in Dakar, which actively participates in Senegalese cultural life, in particular with the establishment of SN Art, monthly cultural events that allow cultural actors from all walks of life to exchange ideas on themes related to the development of the creative industries in Senegal. Carole also represented Senegal at the World Forum of Young Architects</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>JAUK EL MALEH</strong> (1944, Casablanca) Born under the name of Amram El Maleh, he was renamed Armand Lemal by his French father, Emile Poissonnier. Jauk Armal dit Jauk will be his stage name very early in his career, ( "Jauk" borrowed from the Berber means: orchestra, company, clan, group; "armal" embodies free music without taboos or borders). Author, composer and performer, he began his career in jazz and fusion at the age of eighteen in 1962. His career therefore made him the undisputed father of fusion and world music before these names.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>CHRISTINE EYENE</strong> (1970, Paris) is a research fellow in contemporary art at the University of Central Lancashire where she works on Making Histories Visible, an interdisciplinary visual arts research project led by Lubaina Himid, MBE artist and professor of contemporary art at UCLan.  Her research focuses on contemporary African and diaspora arts, British black arts of the 1980s, representations of the body and gender in art, design and sound art. He arrived in France in 1972 when his parents decided to leave Ireland and move to Paris. He creates installations and is considered a cybernetic political artist. He uses sound, light and choreography from machines and objects articulated by complex electronic circuits, the plans of which he draws himself. In these productions, which combine DIY and cutting-edge technologies, Malachi Farrell tells contemporary fables marked by a strong emotional charge, where the viewer, continually endangered, is led to become aware of the duty of commitment in the face of a society that he too often considers brutal. He composes with humour, using satire and caricature, so he can in this sense relate to Daumier or Beckett, his art is above all political and denunciatory.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>MOUNIR FATMI </strong>(1970, Tangier) lives and works between Paris, Lille and Tangier. mounir fatmi builds spaces and language games. His work deals with the desacralization of the religious object, deconstruction, the end of dogmas and ideologies. He questions the world, plays on its codes and precepts under the prism of the trinity of architecture, language and machine. He is particularly interested in the idea of the role of the artist in a society in crisis. His videos, installations, paintings or sculptures reveal our ambiguities, doubts, fears and desires. They point to the current state of our world, what happens in the accident and reveal its structure. Mounir fatmi's work offers a look at the world from another angle, refusing to be blinded by conventions. The territories he explores are those of ritual, the idiot, the fetish and the poetic, and he is the instigator of the first world championships of ricochets on water with standardized glass pucks, deejaying for ghosts, and many silent sound sculptures. </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>SETH CLUETT</strong> (1976, Troy, USA) is a composer and visual artist who creates works that explore everyday actions at extreme magnification, examine details by amplifying impossible tasks and attempt to understand the functioning of memory in forms that rethink the role of the senses in an increasingly technological society. His work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions, at Mamco, Geneva, Migros Museum für Gegenwarskunst, Zürich, Picasso Museum, War and Peace, Vallauris, FRAC Alsace, Sélestat, Fondazione Collegio San Carlo, Modena, AK Bank Foundation in Istanbul, Museum Kunst Palast in Düsseldorf, MMP+ Marrakech and Goteborg Konsthall.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>SIMOHAMED FETAKA</strong> (1981, Tangier) is a multidisciplinary artist. In 2007, he joined the Femis Summer University (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Métiers de l'Image et Son). He directed documentaries and experimental videos that repeatedly questioned the relationship between representation, individuality and politics... In parallel with his film work, he developed a more global practice as a visual artist, embodied in photographic series, collages, installations, as well as sound pieces and performance. He pursued a master's degree in "Experimentation Program in Arts and Politics" under the direction of Bruno Latour at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po).</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>RICHARD GARET </strong>(1972, Montevideo) works with sound and visual arts. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Bard College in New York. His materials are the result of ontological studies of background noise and the decay and decomposition of technological utilities. Garet seeks to reverse the normative function of background noise from the unconscious state to the active presence. The images and objects of his work are the result of processes and experiments applied to both outdated and current technological media that emulate situations that translate material sources into abstractions. His works encompass the objectification of ordinary technologies, transposition, articulation of space, nuances of perception and extended techniques applied to time-based practice. These creations, both conceptual and experimental, embody contemporary life as a filtered experience. Garet emphasizes two notions of this experience that underlie his work: the debris of constant cultural bombardment and the experience of commodification, both of which are considered by Garet as a sensory overload.   Garet is more inspired by the observation of isolated situations in everyday life and interactions with found materials that explore other possibilities for automation, utility, disposal, functionality and decommissioning, goods and the environment.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>ANTONE ISRAEL</strong> (1988, Brussels) lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. First animated by his cinephilia, Antone Israel joined the "Les films à Rayures" collective at the age of 17, a variable collective shooting exclusively in Super 8, with which he directed several short films and a medium-length film, and for which he held the position of projectionist during screenings, halfway between happening and cinema. Gradually abandoning a purely cinematographic practice for a plastic one, Antone Israel reintegrates conceptual, narrative and formal problems that originate and are codified by the cinema in sculptural and installation devices. After a stint at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, a few exhibitions, a position as curator in the ASBL Project(ion) Room, and many diverse and varied works, he now devotes himself exclusively to his approach as a visual artist exploring, through installation, video, film and writing, the conceptual corollaries of the moving image and its different constructions/perceptual deconstructions.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>KYOP JEONG</strong> (1972, Seoul) obtained his master's degree in fine arts at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ESAD) in Strasbourg. As a multimedia installation quartist, he works with materials such as glass, fog, water, light and sound and often collaborates with musicians and choreographers. Her work is essentially improvised, focusing on a unique personal approach to vocal expression, focused on spontaneity, play and risk-taking. Beyond the extended vocal technique, Charmaine uses amplification, electroacoustic feedback and microphones to increase and distort the human voice. She has performed with leading improvisers Nate Wooley, Joe Morris and Joe Morris, and maintains ongoing collaborations with her contemporaries Lester St. Louis, Conrad Tao, Zach Rowden, and Leila Bordreuil. She has performed in venues such as Met Breuer, Roulette, The Stone and Experimental Sound Studios (Chicago). As a composer, Charmaine has received a commission from the Wet Ink Ensemble (2018), and has a future commission with Spektral Quartet (2018).</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>MIYA MASAOKA</strong> (1958, Washington DC) is a composer, sound artist and musician based in New York. With a classical background, her work is located at the intersection of spatialized sounds, frequency and perception, performance, social and historical references. Whether it is to record inside physical objects or inside a plant or the human body, in resonant architectural spaces or resonant canyons outside, it creates incongruities that feed the paradox of the contemporary condition. Her interdependent artistic practices include noted composition, alternative characters, hybrid acoustic-electronic performance on traditional Japanese string instruments such as the koto and ichigenkin. Her work includes writing new Noh music, instrument building, portable computing and sonication of plant behaviour, brain activity and insect movement. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Venice Biennale, Park Avenue Armory, MoMA PS1, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Institute of Contemporary Art Philadelphia, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the Laboratorium for Contemporary Art Museum at Ujazdowski Castle and Siggraph. She was the keynote speaker at NIME (New Interfaces for Musical Expression) in Brisbane, Australia, and was a Fulbright Fellow in Japan in 2016. She has received grants and commissions such as the Doris Duke Artist Award, the Alpert Award in the Arts, The Gerbode Foundation, The Electronic Music Foundation, MAP Fund, The NEA, The Montalvo Arts Center's Lucas Artists Residency, STEIM, IssueProject Room (Siloh), The Headlands and others. Masaoka taught composition at New York University and the Sound program at the Milton Avery School of the Arts at Bard College. She was appointed Studio Artist at Park Avenue Armoury in 2019, as well as a commission to create an outdoor sound installation for Sonic Innovations at Caramoor in 2019.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>ERIK SAMAKH</strong> (1959, Saint-Georges-de-Didonne). His work, internationally recognized since the late 1980s, combines new technologies and natural elements, particularly sound. Its work consists of a constant dialogue between man and nature. The space previously devoted to the power of images becomes a place of listening. Technological elements (autonomous acoustic modules, solar flutes, light and solar fireflies...) paradoxically serve to bring attention back to nature. Many of its work has been carried out out out outdoors, on sites such as natural parks or reserves and art centres (Jirisan National Park in South Korea, High-Provence Geological Reserve, Tijuca Forest National Park in Brazil, Vassivière International Centre for Art and Landscape in Limousin, etc.). He has also worked in the gardens and parks of historical monuments and museums; Chartreuse de Villeneuve-Lez-Avignon in 1987, Villa Médicis in 1994, Musée du Quai Branly in 2012, Musée Rodin in 2013, Parc Monceau as part of the Nuit Blanche in 2015 with a sound installation entitled "la nuit des abeilles".</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>AUDE TOURNAYE</strong> (1993, Brussels) obtained a master's degree in art history, archaeology and philosophy at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, after which she continued her studies in art criticism and curatorship at Columbia University New York. As an independent curator and art critic between Europe and Africa. Her texts have appeared in magazines such as Witte Raaf and H Art Magazine. She works between the European and African continents to study the different approaches and crossed cultures that thrive as intensely and contradictorily as anywhere else in the world.</p>
