Our books are an essential part of our educational program for Bolivian kids. WHAT IS THE PROGRAM "GUARDIANS OF THE FOREST"? <img alt="Gdplast-1457013809" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/285377/GDPlast-1457013809.png" /> Kids will learn about animals, nature and what threatens them through our program of activities, games and books. What better way to learn than having fun! We'll  run three workshops, each lasting four  hours: Parrots (clue game), Armadillo / Paca / Peccary (giant board game), Capuchin monkeys (theatre). We chose these species because they're the most trafficked or hunted. All our workshops are creative and interactive and enable kids to learn about these important issues in a fun way. Three card games about Bolivian wildlife will help children to learn about the animals of their country and their characteristics. We also coordinate an exchange of drawings, photos and letters between Bolivian and French schools. And last but certainly not least we have created three educational books! WHAT ARE THE BOOKS ABOUT? Each book has drawings to colour in, games to learn facts about animals and a story. They all present 5 species of animal and a species of plant, which all have a double page just for them. Species presented: howler monkey, owl butterfly, ficus trees, hummingbirds, Andean armadillo, jaguar. The story tells about a young howler monkey that thanks a ficus tree for his juicy fruits. She asks the tree how she can help him to show her gratitude. The ficus tree tells her that she already helps him and starts to tell about the balance in nature. Subjects: Seeds dispersion, pollination, mutualism, ecosystems, role of herbivores and carnivores…   <img alt="Tapa_livre_1-1455563569" height="481" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/278323/tapa_livre_1-1455563569.png" width="313" />   <img alt="Doublepage_conte-1453904089" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/271403/doublepage_conte-1453904089.jpg" /> 2nd book: "Capi’s big adventure", threats to the forest Species presented: Capybara, toco toucan, turtle podocnemis, spectacled bear, mara tree, Bolivian river dolphin. In the story, the peaceful life of a capybara, a turtle and a toucan is disturbed by a new road crossing his territory. With the road, people start to come by and exploit the forest. Thinking there is no other option, the three friends go in search of a new territory; it is the start of a big adventure. Subjects: pollution, constructions, hunting, cut trees, territory fragmentation, fires.    3rd book: “A new chance for Mitzu”, animal traffic Species presented: Ocelot, red macaw, capuchin monkey, anaconda, orchids, coati. An ocelot and a red macaw meet on the back of a truck. They’re both caged but soon get rescued and arrive in an animal rescue centre. There, a capuchin monkey explains to them where they are and how refuges work. Subjects: how are animals captured, transport conditions, illegal traffic, role of rescue centres, animal rehabilitation and release. WHERE ARE WE GOING TO PRESENT OUR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM? We will start to work with rural schools around Buena Vista with kids from 6 to 12 years old (to whom we offer educational materials); It is there that we are looking for land to build an animal rescue centre for wildlife, other big goal of our charity. This year is just the first step of our program. Next year, we want to present our activities to new schools while creating new activities for the schools we work with now. We want to make the program bigger step by step. Then we’ll have many educational materials and programs to offer to schools. WHY DO WE NEED THIS PRINTER? We first considered other options but this one is the most economic one long term. Plus having our own machine to print will allow us to adapt the books easily. We’ll work with kids of different ages, we will be able to adapt the books from a same basis with different levels of difficulties for the games. It does offer us as well the possibility to trial the books with the first kids and take on any of their suggestions. With a print agency, prices are good only for many of the same books at once. With this option, we lose the possibility to adapt our work, making it more expensive and less effective. The Epson L1800 can print A3+ leaves so we can make our A4+ size books ourselves .It also has photographic quality for the cover of the books.   <img alt="L1800-1453819171" height="202" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/271075/L1800-1453819171.jpg" width="348" /> It will be a tool for many things in the future and will give us a great start for our education projects. . HOW MUCH MONEY DO WE NEED? The 1000€ covers the printer (Epson L1800), 3 packs of 6 colors of ink and part of the 8% taken by the crowdfunding platform.
