a CD for DRE!

Hello dear friends!

We are DRE, an ensemble consisting of classical guitar, violin, double bass and percussion that's trying to bring a classical music program with a twist. We arrange classical guitar repertoire for our own setting. We have a huge obsession with the late French guitarist and composer Roland Dyens whose music we are currently playing. We would love to record this program on a CD and be able to share it with everyone!

DRE started out in 2017 as the graduation project of our guitarist Ine Clerckx. For her research, she explored different ways of bringing a classical music program to a modern day audience. In this context, DRE as an ensemble was formed - with Lucas Heytens for percussion, Reinout Pauwels for violin and Daniele Giampaolo for double bass - to do just that: bring a classical music program in a way that is appealing for as many different types of audiences as possible! For this first project, we already arranged some pieces by Roland Dyens, but we didn't have a full program yet at the time. Now we do and we want to bring this program to you!

The reason why we are so obsessed with Roland Dyens' music, is twofold. The first reason is because this music is so versatile. There are influences of Jazz in there, but also of Brazilian music and the French Chanson, but the classical core is still very much noticeable. The other reason is because most of it is based on improvisation, witch makes it incredibly nice to work and explore options with. We also try to implement as much improvisation in our arrangements as possible.

In short: we absolutely love this music and we want to share it with as many people as possible. As much for our own sake as for the sake of getting people to know and love the music of Roland Dyens as we do!

As you know, recording a CD is not for free! So we need you to help finance our project. Ofcourse you will benefit from your donation, because we will give little rewards for donations of €5 and up! Besides these little rewards, you will ofcourse also receive our eternal gratitude!

The budget of €3000 is meant to cover the costs of recording, including studio time, mixing and mastering of the tracks. We also hope to cover a little of the expenses for printing the CD's. For the recording, we will be working with Slovenian audio engineering genius Uros Baric. If it comes to recordings involving classical guitar, he is one of the best in the business! If you want, you can go and check out his work on his website and see for yourself: https://urosbaric.com/

If we should be able to collect a bigger amount of money, we will use it to organise concerts and create more video content.

The recording will take place 15th until 19th of April 2020 and we hope to be able to get the CD's ready by June/July.

Thank you for reading our full plan and for considering donating any amount of money for our project. It realy means a the world to us!

Yours truly,
