ACTIVIST - Documentary series
What is "Activist" about? 5 countries, 30 ecological initiatives, 50 interviews of activists, 10,000 km by train with our team of 7 young backpackers! The team Up for Europe travelled for 3 months all over Europe to meet activists who are taking actions for climate justice. Through their stories, we discovered the many ideas and strategies they are using to defend the beauty of our world and create spaces for new ways of living: 🌲 Forest occupations 🌾 Community gardens 🏭 Strikes and actions against highly polluting industries 🏫 School and street workshops 🇪🇺 Actions at the European Parliament 🧼 Undercover activists in a greenwashing festival Meet the team behind the action! 📷 📸 Nejc Trampuž
Robin, Arthur, Tina, Jeanne, Tom and Quentin are originally from the team Up for Europe. They prepared their 3-months trip in Europe for a long time and decided to hire Gwen, the director of "Activist", to document the initiatives they would see along the way. After the tour, Arthur joined Gwen to co-edit the documentary with him in Greece.
What are the goals of our documentary? Show the diversity of initiatives We want to show that a diversity of initiatives already exist and that cinema can shine light on activists who are not typically highlighted in media coverage. Inspire & Empower We want to show the beauty of this young generation of activists and demonstrate that anybody can pick up ideas and get inspiration to act locally, wherever they are! 📷 Where is it going to be available? We would like to share this series on free online platforms (ImagoTV, Youtube...), in festivals, in the schools and youth centers with whom we collaborate and during the next tour of Up for Europe in 2022. A low-carbon production! 🚄 International train transport* during both shooting and editing, for the entire team ♻️ Refurbished & 2nd hand equipment 🍅 Vegetarian meals & food dumpster diving ☀️ Filmed in natural conditions without any artificial lighting *With the exception of a ferry, hitchhiking and urban transport.
Allocation of funds
The main objective is to make the documentary accessible to all and inspire a maximum of people to take action! 1st TARGET: 3000€ to support Gwen, our director, in the post-production of the documentary, which represents months of work, Sundays included! 2nd TARGET: 5000€ to finance a teammate and experienced film editor, to double the production level of the film ! 3rd TARGET: 7000€ to support teammates dedicated to the sound design, mastering and publication of the documentary. The rest will be used to plan a season 2 on new countries, even more ambitious! Here is the production schedule : April - July 2021: shooting with Up for Europe (✓) September - October 2021: writing and organisation of the post-production (✓) October - March 2022: editing (in progress) March - April 2022: color correction, sound mastering and preparation of the diffusion April 2022: releasing of the series BUDGET DETAILS To fund this work, Up for Europe spent 9 600 €, split into the following: 1 600 € to cover the shooting (transportation, food during 2 months), 2 500€ to fund a part of Gwen's gear, 4 620€ equivalent to 5 months of work on the production and 800€ of taxes. According to our funding realities, the production would have to stop at the end of january... however in order to get a beautiful series that will inspire young people to take action, we will need to fund another 3 months of work : we are missing 3 000 €! Here we depend on you! SUPPORT AN ENTIRE NETWORK By supporting us, you help us to release a documentary of good quality and strong impact. You also encourage the work of the team Up for Europe which proposes workshops to raise the awareness of young people to ecological issues all over Europe. Moreover, you support Gwen who volunteers as a video artist on multiple meaningful projects in parallel, including: - Climate Fresk - Primaire populaire - Fridays for future Thessaloniki
Finally, by supporting us, you also support the entire movement for climate justice and the many collectives that are represented in our documentary. Our stories are drops of water that soon will form an ocean of new imagination!
