Alizarina & Vadé présentent: Bulgarian Spirit EP

The Vadé Cie

Vadé is a physical theatre & polyphony singing company. It was created in 2015, an encounter between 4 actresses, freshly graduated of the International Theatre School Lassaâd in Brussels.
Strenghed by their common training, speaking the same artistic language, they act with their voices and body in order to find the balance of relevance, emotion and humanity. Under humor mask, they play with conventions, laugh of prejudices and tend to show humanity in a pure and natural way.
Their repertoire is inspired, wide, taking its roots in world traditions and going through jazz, gypsy melodies or balkan polyphonies. This attachment to world music brought them more and more close to Alizarina's universe.

Alizarina

Simon Phelep, clarinetist since his early childhood, started to produce electronic music 4 years ago, after being graduated of Music  Conservatory in Brest (France).
Inexhaustible traveller and heavy passionate of worldwide traditional music, he has been living successively in Greece, Romania and then Belgium, where he developed his solo project Alizarina. This Belgian experience led him to release his first album: "Melodic Blossom" in October 2016, also funded by a KKBB campaign. A first opus, tinged with different musical colors such as klezmer, balkan, celtic and electronic vibes.
Since the end of 2017, he tends to develop collaborative projects, putting his music into new contexts like theatre & circus but also in bands   as with Vadé company.

Bulgarian Spirit EP

Both of us, Alizarina & Vadé, are willing to highlight the vivacity of emotions brought by traditional music. Thus, it became obvious to gather around a specific repertoire.
The strength of voices, the power of irregular rhythms, the deepness of harmonics and the emotions which emanates from Bulgarian songs touched us, straight away. We literally fell in love with the humanity of this music !

So we merged our knowledges to spotlight this folklore in an other dimension: we use this contrast between electronic music and polyphonic singing to express the mysticism of those traditional masterpieces.

"Bugarian Spirit" is all about this, it's the fulfillment of this collaboration: a 4-tracks EP.
A great painter from Brussels, Marc Rillet, will make the art work of this project!
