Blind Date - short film

Following her short films Fred, student production, and Project H, self-produced for the Nikon Film Festival, Mona Khaouli is currently finishing her third short film in the "ha ha ha, cry cry cry" series, Blind Date. (The following are all photograms of the film) Synopsis Awkward 27-year-old May has a blind date with a certain June. All she knows about June is that she will be wearing pink socks to their date. On the way there, May’s phone is destroyed in the most absurd of circumstances. Shocked and appalled, May decides to make her way to the date anyway. After all, June shouldn’t be that hard to find. To May’s surprise, the café is teeming with women, only women, all wearing pink socks. Which one of them is June? How will May find her without making an absolute fool of herself? Project Status The film was shot last year in Paris, mainly at Askini, a bar now closed and previously owned by Jasmine Busson and Selloua Bouaziz who very generously allowed us to shoot there, free of charge. The other part of the film was shot indoors, in our friend Aya Saleh's home, to whom we are also eternally grateful. We shot on 16mm with a ratio of 1/3, which was a huge challenge for us but we made it work! Rony Khoubieh, director of photography, did a beautiful job. May Ziade, script continuity, and Hannah Walti, 1st AD, made sure we got all the shots we needed. Based on a work in progress version of the film edited by Mona Khaouli and color corrected by Victor Bargès, Blind Date has already been selected to two exciting festivals that will be announced soon. However, in order to finish the film and be able to screen it at these festivals and send it out to more, we need your help. Director’s statement Short version: Hi, please help! Thanks. Long version: Making Blind Date so far has been a dream. I had the opportunity to work with an amazing, talented and generous cast and crew, they have made this film what it is and I cannot wait to share it with all of you. Those who know me know that I have a habit of telling sad stories in a funny way, and I (almost) always end up laughing when I cry. This film is a good example of that, and it also touches on a subject that is very important to me: lesbian visibility. It is quite hard to come by lesbian comedies, and this film is my tiny contribution to this small yet growing heritage. Poster The film poster was created as a collaboration between Mona Khaouli and Raphaelle Macaron. It is part of the rewards for supporting this project. Allocation of funds

Easy Riders Films produced the film on their own funds, which, like all things in life, come to an end. The money we raise would fund the following: - Creating DCPs in order to screen at festivals - Re-working the sound mixing to include an original soundtrack by Lebanese musician Munir Khauli - Applying to more festivals around the world - If possible, paying the cast and crew who worked on the film
