Carnet de faits

“Is the world still enchanting ?” Blick asks. His drawings are his answer. “When a situation captures my attention, I grab notebook and pencil. With a single line my hand transfigures the moment. Now I want to share my visual adventures in a collection of sketchbooks.

The first Carnet de Faits collection is composed of 4 titles.
4 different universes, 4 individual journeys, 4 illustrated walks.

Discover the film telling the origin of this adventure :-)

My drawing gives the impression of being done in one take, a technique I developed underground. For a time I drew people I encountered on the Paris metro and because the train shakes when it moves, I learned to draw without lifting the pen, in one stroke, with the paper resting on my thigh. The exercise forced me to integrate the essential details. Ever since, I have enjoyed the inventive charm of this linear form.

Each Carnet is a different artistic journey. These sets of seen and lived sights are a kind of hand-drawn news report. I look past the postcards, I roam around collecting thrown-away moments to turn them into life stories. I distill the essence of a place with its vivid particulars and strange encounters, each scene with a mood my drawing reveals. The individual drawings bear witness to an astonishment hovering between anthropology and unrestrained visual imagination.

"Carnet de faits" offers you its first collection of 4 sketchbooks.
4 different universes, 4 singular journeys and 4 off-beat adventures

Solar Fury in Malaga
Off the Pedestal in Paris

Beds without Venetian's Arms

Absolution Covid 19

All books are 6 x 8 in., the same size as the original sketches. The notebooks are easy to carry and can be enjoyed anywhere.

They are printed in a short distribution chain in the area around Paris using vegetable ink on paper from PEFC-certified forests, a label awarded to foresters committed to sustainable management. Similarly, totebags are made of cotton from responsible trade and stickers are made of cane fiber. My respects to the printer who worked in search of respectful materials.

To travel, whether far away or around the corner, is to search for the unusual. It appears when you let yourself see it. The unexpected flash of wonder appears even in gloomy places or ones crowded with tourists. My illustrated walks offer a fresh take on looking around us.
