Cats Can't Fly (to mexico?)

The Optimists need your help.

Meeting at our vocational training Centre of Circus Arts, "The Lido" Toulouse. We created the company "THE OPTIMISTS". We are 14 artists from different backgrounds and countries and Circus arts are our collective passion. Our group has one Spanish, four French, three Israelis, two Brazilians, two Norwegian, one Finnish and one English. This diversity of nationalities is who we are, a real cultural wealth, a collective strength.

As part of our training, we created the show "Cats Can't Fly". A collective creation nourished by our circus disciplines, our personalities, and our group life. After organisation and completing the "Optimists France-Israel tour July 2014", we each followed our individual artistic paths. Now, once again we find ourselves reunited in order to go perform our show in Mexico at the invitation of the FICHO festival (Festival International de Circo y CHOu de Mexico)

The Ficho festival invited us to play two performances of the show "Cats Can't Fly" and participate in a collective cabaret with other artists not associated with the Optimistic team. We will also carry out several workshops working along side a related "social circus" project. This project involves performing and giving workshops for people who do not have access to the festival. In particular in an orphanage in Guadalajara. Two of us will also participate as Judges for the "young talent of Mexico" competition.

Allocation of funds

The project is one that will benefit many people.

1)People who normally don't have access to our style of circus or artistic propositions.

2)The people to whom we will pass on our knowledge and expertise in disciplines that we have studied for most of our lives.

3)The disadvantaged children who can't afford o normally do not have access to these types of activities.

4)The people that we meet as we create connections and break down existing cultural barriers. .

5)Us, by giving us a chance to go to mexico with Cats can't fly! To meet the people with our show and workshops.

We will not be making money for this project. So by giving you will simply be helping us to give back to other people.

As you can see our budget brings us to 0 therefore if we do not make the expected amounts from the cabarets etc. any extra money gained from this site will be used to balance the budget. Also if we gain more than we require for our budget we will put the surplus money aside and use it to help pay for future Optimist projects.
