Chicas 4.0 - Un film qui parle d’avenir et d’égalité

Through the journey of a young high school student, the film, "Chicas 4.0", aims to both paint a picture of the situation of Colombian women in terms of opportunities and equality, but also to find out if the ongoing digital revolution can be a tool to her empowerment. Can access to a education on new tecnologies offer the possibility to disadvantaged Colombian women to change the course of their destiny? The film will follow one of these young women, entering a program focused on learning new technologies. Accompanying her from the very first day, we will collect her hopes and difficulties, her dreams, and those of her family, of a better future. The interviews of her relatives, other "chicas" who have already taken this path, and the confidences of our heroine, will allow us to highlight the perspectives and the obstacles that these young women are confronted with daily in the construction of their destiny. To broaden the film's scope and understand the obstacles and opportunities of this society, we will also give the floor to women who, in one way or another, serve as models for our young women in the making. Culture of beauty, religion, patriarchy, sexual freedom: so many subjects that our great witnesses (school principal, entrepreneur, influencer, politician...) will address without censorship and without pessimism. So many faces of a Colombia that is moving forward, and that hopes for another future for these girls than unemployment, precariousness or early motherhood. She contributes to bring out the themes of the story, so that it delivers a strong, current and relevant message. Stéphane Louesdon Director and co-writer Director, art photographer, social documentalist, member of the Hans Lucas agency. The idea of Chicas 4.0 was born during his long stay in Colombia and Ecuador in 2021-2022. Lila Louesdon Cameraman - Camera Operator Trained in the Film and Television Production program at the Trebas Institute in Montreal, Lila has worked on various short films, live performances and commercials. She is the director and producer of her first film in 2021.
