ELLAS - La série documentaire sur les femmes en Amazonie !

A documentary series that tells the daily life, the conception of life and the fights of indigenous women in their community in the Amazon in the 21st century. 1 documentary series: 4 episodes of 26 minutes 3 months of shooting: from September to November 2022 🗓 3 countries: Colombia, Peru and Ecuador 🌎 10 interviews with native women in the Amazon 🍃 2 co-founders: Estelle and Jade ✍🏼 1 professional director 🎞 3 months of editing: from January to March 2023 May 2023: delivery of the documentary 📽 "This documentary is the creation of young people concerned about the future of the planet and looking for inspirational stories." Synopsis "ELLAS is a documentary series that gives the voice to indigenous women of the Amazon, about the themes of nature, culture, religion, traditions, justice and the future. During three months, Jade and Estelle, two 23-years old French friends, will go to Colombia, Ecuador and Peru to meet these women within their indigenous communities. A subject that resonates with the climate emergency that we are facing, and brings keys to understanding the importance of these indigenous peoples of Latin America (Indigenous peoples represent only 5% of the world's population and yet preserve 80% of the earth's biodiversity)." Our 3 pillars 🌱 Witness the beauty and importance of preserving nature 🌱 The Amazon is the largest ecosystem on Earth hosting 10% of the world's biodiversity. It is still home to many native people who are at one with this exuberant nature. They preserve this environment which in return provides them with everything they need to meet their needs. We wish to show the beauty of these communities who live in harmony with nature and to arouse a possible empathy in the spectator, to bring each of us to question our own relationship with nature, and, eventually, to review our daily behavior. 💪🏽 Highlighting strong and inspiring female figures 💪🏽 Women occupy a very particular place within their community. Through this documentary, we wish to highlight portraits of women who inspire us, to discover which characters are hidden behind these unique destinies and the messages they wish to transmit. ⏳ Unveil their traditions and evolutions ⏳ These women preserve the skills and traditions of their community, symbols of their culture that are dear to them. We wish to honor them and testify to their ability to adapt to the changing political, economic and social issues they face. Who are hidden behind ELLAS? - Jade and Estelle, the co-founders and co-authors of ELLAS, go on a 3-month adventure in the Amazon to make the documentary. - Manon and Inès, are in charge of the communication of the project on our social networks. - Johan is the artistic director, who created the visual identity of ELLAS. - Hortense and Aladdin are part of the partnership team. Who are the women we will meet? In Ecuador : Magola, now lives in Quito but has lived for many years in the Amazon. As a sociologist in an NGO, she is involved in reducing social inequalities in access to education. Rosa, is a member of the Quechua community and a doctor, practicing ancestral and modern medicine. She fought for access to education as a woman from the Amazon countryside, and continues to fight today for the recognition of indigenous culture, for the emancipation of indigenous peoples and especially women through education. Marcía, has been president of the association Mujeres por Ecuador for 5 years and is committed to building shared business leadership by promoting greater participation of women in decision-making. Entrepreneur and businesswoman, Marcia shared with us her struggle for the financial empowerment of women in Ecuador. In Colombia: Lilia, a woman leader in her community San Francisco de Amacayacu in the Colombian Amazon, is involved in indigenous committees to protect her community and fights in particular for responsible fishing rules. Diana and Salome, work for the National Natural Park of Colombia and will be our guides and intermediaries with the native communities of the Park. In Peru: Johanna, a French woman who has been living in Peru for 10 years and who lived in a village in the Amazon for 7 years. Today she leads many social projects, especially for the emancipation of women and the preservation of the forest. Maria, a 28 year old journalist who lives in the city of Lima. Thanks to her background and her political knowledge of the country, Maria can bring us a complementary point of view to understand the current issues in the country regarding gender equality and the recognition of indigenous peoples. Luz Reyna, a nun who is part of an organization that works with women in the Amazon. Maria, Senior Advisor and Coordinator of the UN Women Program in Peru. We can't wait to meet and talk with these women, each one more inspiring than the last! How to access to the documentary? Our goal is to broadcast the series on web platforms such as Arte, Salto or Netflix (let's be crazy!). We also plan to organize awareness events with the diffusion of our film as soon as we get back, with our partners, in our cities in France and during film festivals.
