ESPIRITO MUNDO COMMUNITY: Be part of this history

ESPIRITO MUNDO COMMUNITY Help us build together an engaged multidisciplinary space of creation and production. Espirito Mundo is a non-profit association, founded in 2018 in Brussels. Its history started in 2007 in Brazil with a series of international exchange projects until it finally became formalized in Brussels. From 2019 to 2022 with an artist residency center in the temporary occupation SeeU, Brussels Capital in Ixelles, it managed to realize and promote several cultural multidisciplinary projects. The association continues with its new premises in Molenbeek, a communal building shared by four other associations with the expectation of staying for more than 3 years. In addition to its artistic and cultural focus, the Association is always working across the environment and human rights in partnership with citizen movements such as Rise For Climate Belgium and the network for the peoples of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil - its members are also leading international environmental activists. The goal of the projects always brings the intercultural character, favoring encounters. The activities value human values, solidarity, sharing and diversity. The intention is to continue its active citizenship projects that give voice and space to the community where art and culture are inclusive tools for building a common dialogue. We ask for your support because we believe in the strength of the collective and in the ability to make dreams come true when we unite in common causes. Allocation of funds

WHAT WILL THE FUNDS BE USED FOR? We had a little support from the Molenbeek Commune that we were able to occupy the space and make a first part. With it we were able to do the electrical installation that did not exist. Most of the material was recovered in our building itself and from donations. However, we have not yet been able to obtain sufficient resources for many of the things we have planned. Final distribution of the space : 160.60m2 Office - 3.66 x 4.00 = 14.64m2 Artist's studio - 2.10 x 4.00 = 8.4m2 Corridor - 2,15m x 9m = 19,35m2 Multipurpose - 4.12 x 4 + 2.24 x 1.92 + 6.25 x 4.00 = 59m2 Multimedia space - 7.60 x 6.30 = 47.88m2 Floor - 6.30 x 1.80 = 11.34 PROCESS Work done The wooden staircase was made collectively by the occupants of the building. Demolition of the interior walls for the redistribution of the space Reuse of the wood of the ceiling of the various spaces Recovery of recycled materials with partner associations Cleaning of spaces - removal of carpets and debris Partial painting of the spaces Installation of the floor of the exhibition space with recycled wood Cleaning of windows (removal of paint/wood and broken glass) Cleaning of ceilings Removal of waste generated by the construction site Complete installation of the lighting with adapted materials and a specific system of control of the light distribution. Installation of the decoration of the space ( wall and windows) Multimedia installation (projector and screen) and exhibitions. Temporary closing of the windows to secure the building Official opening with installation of an exhibition Note: Work done by the members of the association in collaboration with specialists (lighting) and volunteers in this beautiful chain of support to our non-profit association. We need to continue the services that will be financed with your support. We are counting on our friends, members and collaborators in general in this beautiful chain of support for our non-profit association. The costs involve: To pay professionals that can execute repair works in our space that we could not manage by ourselves for our office and atelier and 01 multimedia activity room: floor laying, thermal and acoustic ceiling coating, closing and leveling walls To buy materials necessary for their repair For the proper closing of the windows (with expert handling of asbestos) To rent a container to clean the space with debris To buy basic equipment for our activities: 01 basic sound system; 01 server for storage and support for audiovisual production CONDITIONS The event for the delivery of the rewards will take place in the first half of 2023 at the cultural center (Jean-Baptiste Decock, 97 -1080) on a date that will be communicated to the supporters beforehand. It will be a pleasure to welcome our partners in our house. However, the use of the space as well as the artistic proposals of activities must be integrated in the available calendar of the association and the necessary structure must be agreed upon in advance. Artistic costs and the rental of specific equipment are not included. In the case of an international artist's residency, local logistical support/information will also be offered (accommodation/food not included).
