For Maxim A jazz love Story
A jazz tribute to my father Maxim Saury, great clarinetist jazz player. A voyage back to my roots!
For Maxim A jazz love Story
Hello people of the world, friends, family and jazz fans,
It is with great pleasure and deal of emotion that i introduce you to my project:
For Maxim-A Jazz Love Story.
It took me quite a while to put this artistic project together, directly inspired by my musical inheritance,it is now ready!
I pay a tribute to my father Maxim Saury, clarinetist,a lover of traditional jazz which he played during his 6 decade career.
Most of you know me as a side woman, through several projects as :
Rhoda Scott and the Lady Quartet,The Duke Orchestra,Philippe Milanta trio,Nikki and Jules or
you saw me with:
Lillian Bouté,Denny Illet,Fred Wesley,PeeWee Elis or Evan Christopher….
Or you had the chance to listen to my first album The Hiding Place" recorded with Carine Bonnefoy and Félipé Cabrera.
One of Maxim's favorite song, " Stars fell in Alabama" , from the "Hiding place project"
For those who don't know me,my name is Julie Saury ,i have been a jazz drummer for the last 20 years.
To do this,i needed the best team!!
The musicians who surround me are for some faithful road companions, and for others, musicians that i've met on tours or different concerts.
Most important is that we have the same musical background.
Philippe Milanta and Bruno Rousselet were a must have as a solid and fluid rhythm section
All sublimated by the presence of:
Aurelie Tropez(clar), Fred Couderc(saxs,fl), and Shannon Barnett(tb,vc).
Thanks to them i obtained the mood that i wanted, while having fun with this traditional jazz repertoire, shoving the codes nicely.
We recorded the music at studio Moods in Vannes with ideal conditions.
The MIx was made by Bruno Minisimi and Mastering by Studio Lakanal.
Many thanks to Alex Tassel and Musique à bord association to make it happened.
Let's check it out !!
