Total Trax, the film music podcast founded by Rafik Djoumi, Olivier Desbrosses and David Oghia (Misteur D), is proud to present its first book, dedicated to the great Jerry Golsmith, unforgettable composer of legendary soundtracks like First Blood, Planet of the Apes, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Gremlins, Poltergeist, Total Recall, Basic Instinct and so many others. To pay our hommage to this giant, we created the book Jerry Goldsmith: Visual Filmography, in english and french, which allows you to explore the master's career through the visuals of his records. Our second book is in French language only : Jerry Goldsmith: un orfèvre à Hollywood, written by Yves Desrichard, with the collaboration of Rafik Djoumi. It looks in detail at his biography, his influences, his musical masters, his years in television, his special relationships with certain filmmakers, and the evolution of his compositional style. Jerry Goldsmith With a career spanning five decades, including countless popular and revered films (Planet of the Apes, Patton, Papillon, Chinatown, Star Trek, First Blood, Gremlins, Basic Instinct, Total Recall ...) and despite a talent widely recognized by his peers, who continue to cite him as a major reference, no French-language book has until now been dedicated to the great Jerry Goldsmith. Film music is always dependent on the works it serves. Thus, the most sublime of scores can fade into oblivion if the film it serves is not popular. Jerry Goldsmith's career has alternated between acclaimed or despised movies, rediscovered or forgotten movies, while the artist always gave his best. As a result, many of his great scores remain little-known, even among film buffs. Rediscovering the incredible richness of his career is the aim of this book, which will be published in 2024, for the 20th anniversary of his death. Fruit of patient research and information gathering, Jerry Goldsmith: un orfèvre à Hollywood retraces the Maestro's career on all his projects, without exception, with a wealth of anecdotes and analysis, over almost 450 pages. This book will enable all fans to appreciate even more the consistency, diversity and modernity of this giant of film music.
