Le Tarot Perino

Le Feu Sacré editions has the pleasure and the honor to publish a Tarot de Marseille unique in the world from the artist and engraver Thomas Perino, hand-drawn from and based on the Tarot de Conver (1760). Engraved on wooden plates (basswood), each of the seventy-eight cards of this game has been treated very carefully, with the highest respect for the tradition of the ancient cardmaker masters. The plates were then assembled on a single big plate and printed at Michael Woolworth's studio. The printing was hand-painted by Thomas Perino. This printing has been acquired in 2022 by the French Museum of playing cards and is the one which served in manufacturing the cards. They have been reproduced at their original scale of 8x16cm. This complete game of the Tarot Perino is the link between the Ancient and the Modern : designed and crafted during five full years, it is introduced in this edition by a new generation of writers, all passionate tarologists. Decidedly engaged towards poetry, these writers see Tarot as a daily practice, a science for the present, a lifestyle combining action, pleasure, study, work and spirituality. This Tarot de Marseille could only come from a publishing house which values literature, literature as an everlasting poem, as a cathartic fiction and a philosophy for the future. Who are we ? Thomas Perino lives and works in Paris. Plastic artist and engraver, he graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris and has illustrated several books for the Seuil editions and La Martinière, including Alice in Wonderland. The images of his wood engraving work use a large graphic vocabulary such as the line/surface oppositon, the straight/curb line or the scratch and the circle, and maintains a special relationship with writing and literature. Thomas Perino collaborates with several groups including Les Soirées Dessinées, Les Fondeurs de Roue and the theatre company Le Corps à Parole. Le Feu Sacré editions is a publishing house based in Paris and born in Lyon during the summer of 2011 under the impulse of Fabien Thévenot. Publishing essays, poetry, literary praises or unclassifiable documents in iconoclastic and attractive formats, Le Feu Sacré unveiled in 2015 a remarkable collection, survival manuals for the 21st century novel readers, Les Feux Follets. In its current configuration its team is composed of Simon Thoral, Aurélien Lemant, Steven Lambert, the graphic designers of Sthéno - Marie-Lou Garcia and Léa Laforest -, and of all their accomplices.
