Le Winner

SYNOPSIS

Le Winner is the story of Hervé, an obnoxious and contemptuous character. He doesn't realize he lives a loser's life, even when he sits by himself at the bar or dances (by himself) in a retro night-club.

One evening, as he takes out the garbage, he meets a strange character who will help him to change his life and become "le" winner !

ABOUT THE FILM

Le Winner is a quirky and eccentric comedy short film (final duration will be around eight minutes). There is, intentionally, over-acting, absurd situations and kitsch accessories in it, and it draws inspiration from B movies and the 70s/80s period.

Our goal is for the film to be funny, of course, but also to become a "cult film", nothing less !

THE DIRECTOR

ALIÉNOR DUPLESSIS

I graduated as a director from the London Film School and later on got an editing degree from CIFAP in Paris. Passionate about all the creative steps of the filmmaking process, I consider that a film is at first a personal work created in the mind (more or less twisted) of an author, but then becomes a collective creation. This is what happened during the first part of Le Winner's shoot: the crew and the actors took the ideas I had to another level, and brought many new ones; I am very grateful for that. Le Winner took shape in my mind after I had met Kim Giani, the main actor, while making a music video. His great comedic potential and the faces he can make inspired me to create the character of Hervé and make this film !

Wilhelm studied political science at Sciences Po Lille before pursuing his passion of filmmaking with a M.A at the London Film School. He has directed two period short films, a western set in Arkansas but shot in Auvergne, France, and The Nephew, an intimate drama set in 1947 France.

Passionate about images, Wilhelm has worked as a DOP on short films and music videos; he also does editing, motion design and grading at a professional level.

The target amount of 1 500 euros is really the minimum we need in order to shoot the missing scenes for Le Winner.

The crew and actors are working for free and giving me their time, energy and talent; in order to do the best for them we need to pay for their expenses, rent professional equipment and get the locations we need for this film. The budget will be allocated as follows :

- Equipment rental : 600 euros

- Locations : 600 euros

- Production expenses : 200 euros

- HMC : 100 euros

If we achieve to get more than the targeted sum, we will have the opportunity to get some Steadicam shots and give the film much more production value !
