Explaining protective measures to our little ones
We need your help to make and freely spread these films in order to protect our children, as well as the rest of us.
Explaining protective measures to our little ones
The aim of this campaign
To produce in a record-breaking time a series of short educational and fun animations setting out the rules of hygiene and social distancing to pre and primary schools children.
Where did the idea come from ?
“A very good friend of mine runs a recreation centre and asked me if I could draw protective measures for her little ones. I thought it was a fantastic idea and then decided to also give these drawings to whoever may want them and need them: schools, day nurseries, even individuals… 😊 " Cœur d’Artiflo
By sharing her illustrations over Facebook, and without even really wanting to, this young illustrator saw her post being “liked”, commented and shared well over 100 000 times, in France and all over the world, with requests originating from Canada, Cairo, Italy, Morocco, The Netherlands, the USA….to translate, print and show her sketches. And this is precisely how she got to see her drawings behind President Macron during his interview at a school in Poissy, France !
We understood there was a clear need within schools, recreation centres and the likes, and more generally speaking: parents, in the whole world, for this type of educational tool. As a film producer specializing in animation, I got in touch with the illustrator and decided to get a team together in hurry, in order to put her work into movement and animate her characters in small sequences explaining the key rules our little ones should remember.
By helping this campaign, you will help the production of fun animated sketches explaining protective measures to children.
Well aware this crisis will last several weeks, each country are deconfining step by step. Recreation centres resuming their activities are a crucial issue which is to be dealt with gradually. Yet a great many of teachers and supervisors, not to mention parents, seam helpless when confronted to the difficulty in organizing a return to normality in the best conditions. In that way we are trying to help them by providing a workable basis they can watch with the children, opening discussions on the matter and gently empowering these children with goodwill.
The French toolkit had been launched in the 26th of May and has already been largely downloaded. The 10 international versions are available for free since June 22nd on http://lesptitsloups.tv
We need your feedbacks and strong support, in order to make other films and spread them all around the world for free.
Together, let us bring back confidence and support our teachers and educators. Let us accompany our children by explaining in a simple, fun and efficient way the rules to remember in order to protect themselves and the others.
Who is behind this campaign ?
First and foremost is Cœur d’Artiflo, a talented illustrator beautifully wisely inspired by a very good friend.
Then comes the production company, Les Films du Cygne , based in both Annecy and Paris and its partners: InTheBox animation studio from Annecy, and Le Studio Animation in Marseilles both working on all animation and image finalization, Les Prods Son in Lyon who are responsible for audio and soundworks, and TITRAFILM for the international dubbing.
Where will the films be shown?
The films, which on average have a duration of approximately 25 seconds, are freely downloadable on http://lesptitsloups.tv, on social medias (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter...), and on http://lesfilmsducygne.com
Alongside the production of these films, we made great efforts to communicate and tried to internationally spread this campaign, in Partnership with UNESCO.
Indeed, we are really proud that UNESCO supports this citizen action by disseminating these kits on their websites, in particular the one dedicated to the Covid among the educational resources available, throughout their network of associated schools (12 500 worldwide), by sharing this content with their sister agencies of the United Nations, with their Ambassadors and obviously on their social networks.
Allocation of funds
How will the fundraising effort be used ?
Our approach is a collective and spontaneous civic gesture. At first, we invested at our own risk, in total auto-production, in order to get production started in the rush of the situation. Today, thanks to your contributions and the support of the cities of Annecy, International capital of Animation, Saint-Mande near Paris, and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, we could be able to animate Coeur d'Artiflo's illustrations, all together.
Fund raising will therefore be spread out in various stages :
- Firstly finance the initial 8 animations for a total budget of € 20.000 dedicated to pay our animators and technicians, who decided to commit to the project at an early stage with us.
- Should we receive more at this stage, we plan on the one hand to make international versions, and on the other, to produce more self standing animations in the line of those already made but covering further aspects of hygiene measures more complexe, or even towards handicap.
- Then, we could think to go further and make films geared towards children, namely habits which should be avoided be it with friends at school, family or grand-parents, or even in places such as streets, parks or playgrounds. We could also think of making a longer version comprising of previous elements, or possibly a series with our characters in tricky situations related to new ways of facing everyday life, nonetheless in a reassuring and fun way of course. Budgets will still need to be drawn up depending on the type of following chosen.
During these difficult times, it is crucial to protect our children and support them in the best possible way, and to play down the drama they are likely confronted to. We need to give them the tools to understand what we are living today, along with their friends and families.
This project concerns all of us since these films are in fact essential in facilitating the understanding of the protective measures which have become fundamental to preserve our little munchkins.
