MilanoCittàAperta: 5 anni di narrazioni fotografiche indipendenti

It's been five years since we met for the first time in a small apartment of Ticinese, with in our heads a lot of ideas to put together. We wanted to produce amazing pictures and at the same time we were looking for a project that made sense.

And so we wrote an utopian Manifesto, irreverent and idealist.

Heirs of the tradition of photojournalism, born thanks to the Magnum in the 50s and aware of the social research and artistic avant-garde of the twentieth century,we try be part of the path of Photography facing the future. We want to go down in real life, free the secret, use the photographic gesture for striker experienced firsthand. We declare that Milan finally as "open city" and we do accept our war within the city become chaotic. This same city that, as photographers, we want to know and make known. And to know in order to change.

photo © Piero Raffaelli

We published 20 issues so far. There are many photographers who have given us confidence - some famous and others unknown, but all really good - working together for the success of each edition of the magazine. And then graphic designers, web designers, journalists, photo editors, university professors, musicians, managers of premises and exhibition spaces.

With them we have grown.

Today we want to continue this important adventure.

We want to continue to tell Milan as the city that lives in its stories and places that often are not seen, as they were hidden by a thick fog. We would like to dispel this fog.

 Our spirit

We believe that the magazine should be an open place for exchange and enrichment. The editorial summarizes the spirit of collaboration; each member works to achieve a quarterly publication of great quality.

We believe that the magazine should be an open place for exchange and enrichment. The editorial summarizes the spirit of collaboration; each member works to achieve a quarterly publication of great quality.

We believe that photography is a narrative.

We believe in kindness, respect, honesty and acceptance.

So we think that Milan should be an "open city" just to regain his spirit really better.

photo © Olivia Gozzano

The project MilanoCittàAperta has maintained a high level of quality during these five years of intense activity. We are very pleased with the results achieved, but we want to do even more.

For this reason we ask you a financial contribution. We do not seek an award nor a certificate of trust. We want to go forward with renewed energy, to wish for a long time, good vision. Good vision, Milan.

The first appointment to meet with the editorial staff and find out what we have done so far will be the opening of the exhibition MilanoCittàAperta: Five years of independent photographic narratives scheduled on September 15th to the 18th at the Spazio Polyphemus at the Fattoria del Vapore, Via Procaccini 4, Milan. The exhibition will be open to the public until September the 30th.

For any questions please contact us at:

photo © Marco Costa
