Barbarian Movies ! Master of the Universe + Barbarians + Barbarians book

Sharpen your axes and two-handed swords! To celebrate the barbarian genre you love, boutique labels Sidonis Calysta and Pulse Video are joining forces to bring you a ripped project. Two films unreleased on blu-ray in France, along a massive 256 pages beautiful book. Nothing less is needed to explore Conansploitation. This cinematic genre, born after the success of John Milius' Conan the Barbarian, takes Heroic Fantasy as its backdrop, but above all imposes vengeful, body-built heroes. They're often mute ice-boxes with a taste for personal justice delivered with a sword. Conan, Dar, Yor, Ator, Kane and the other barbarians of the '80s and '90s are now available on Kisskissbankbank, to the delight of movielovers! Preorder the Collector's Edition of Masters of the Universe (1987), including the book Barbarians, from Conan to He-Man in an exclusive hardcover case, including a mouse pad and three 18x26cm prints, and don't hold back your (guilty) pleasure by adding Ruggero Deodato's Barbarians (1987) to your pledge! On the way to the 300% 300% is just around the corner! After the Barbarians badge offered to everyone on the 200% stretch goial, we'll be adding a set of Conansploitation movie logo stickers for everyone, as well as two Masters of the Universe stickers with very special prints (prototypes are on the work and you'll be amazed!). By the power of Greyskull Masters of the Universe (1987) directed by Gary Goddard With Dolph Lundgren, Meg Foster, Frank Langella and Courteney Cox The story: For ages, the wild and magical world of Eternia has been at peace. The witch of the Greyskull Castle was charged with maintaining the balance between the forces of good and evil. But one man's lust for power, the infamous Skeletor, gets to subdue the sorceress. The people of Eternia refused to submit to this tyrant. Men, women and children kept their hope in one man. A blond warrior with superhuman strength, capable of leading the rebel forces to victory and defeating evil. His name: Musclor... The film: in 1986, Mattel teamed up with the Cannon Group to bring The Masters of the Universe to the big screen in a live-action adaptation. For the toymaker, the objective was to relaunch its best-selling franchise, while the studio was trying to escape a predicted bankruptcy. Dolph Lundgren, revealed by Sylvester Stallone in Rocky 4, was called in to help. The Swede lends his impressive muscle mass to He-man, while Frank Langella slips into the mask of the demonic Skeletor. The two best enemies are invited to turn Eternia and planet Earth into a battlefield and plunder the box office. Unfortunately, when it was released in 1987, this Heroic Fantasy adventure, despite its $20 million budget, failed to achieve the success it had hoped for. Nevertheless, it remained a cult film for a whole generation of viewers and for all the kids of the 80s. As the icing on the cake, Masters of the Universe revealed actress Courteney Cox (Friends, Scream) in her first film role. So get the popcorn ready, and let's head for the magical, dark world of Eternia... Release features Zone 2 blu-ray/DVD combo with slipcover, selective varnish and reversible dust jacket 1080p master restored for the film's 25th anniversary in 2012 (the studio has not allowed us to release a new master). Barbarians (1987) by Ruggero Deodato With Peter Paul, David Paul, Richard Lynch, Eva LaRue, Michael Berryman and George Eastman The story: the Ragnick tribe is attacked by Kadar, a power-hungry warlord. Princess Canary and the twins she has taken in, Kutchek and Gore, are captured. The boys are raised separately and trained as gladiators. Kadar has promised Canary that neither he nor his men will raise a sword against them. But the tyrant has a Machiavellian plan in mind: let the two brothers kill each other in the arena. The film: Nothing predisposed Italian filmmaker Ruggero Deodato to venture into heroic fantasy territory. However, the director of Cannibal Holocaust found himself at the helm of The Barbarians, an American Cannon Group production shot in Italy. The sponsors of this adventure film, the ineffable Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, were planning a harsh and violent spectacle. But upon discovering the Paul brothers, the main actors in this heroic epic, and their innate sense of comedy, Deodato decided to take a completely different path. Barbarians will going to be a fantastic adventure, full of action and humor. It's this explosive mix that makes the film such a small success in French cinemas and on videocassette, thanks in particular to a French dubbing that accentuates the comic dimension. Never officially re-released on DVD or Blu-ray, the barbarian twin brothers finally come in high definition. Edition features Zone 2 blu-ray/DVD combo with slipcover and reversible dust jacket Master restored in 2019 Provisional visuals pending studio approval Extras (non-definitive list, subject to change) The Barbarians universe (2018) with French subtitles Behind the Scenes TV-Special (2018) with French subtitles The Midnight Hour (2018) with French subtitles Interview with David and Peter Paul (2018) with French subtitles Interview with Ruggero Deodato (2010) with French subtitles Promotional clip, with French subtitles U.S. trailer French trailer Photo gallery Do you like movies about barbarians ? Barbarians, from Conan to He-Man, a cinematic history of Conansploitation by Claude Gaillard 256 pages format 19x27 - Hardcover With exclusive collector's case including Masters of the Universe blu-ray/DVD combo (1987) with a mousepad and three 18x26cm prints. In the eighties, it was Heroic Fantasy time, and after the box office success of John Milius' Conan, a horde of barbarians stormed movie theaters and video store aisles. Their names were Ator, Yor, Gunan, Thor, Hundra, Dar... and these illegitimate children of the Cimmerian were to participate in the construction of a singular heroic figure, a brutal, unmodern and delightfully anachronistic character: the barbarian! In the U.S., legendary producer Roger Corman, often referred to as the Pope of B-movies, jumped into the breach, taking advantage of the situation to relocate production of his Conan rip-offs to South America. In Italy, where the art of the counter-attack and the retort to Hollywood blockbusters has become a specialty, Conan is also a source of ideas. Joe d'Amato, Lucio Fulci, Ruggero Deodato and Tonino Ricci explored the genre, while Luigi Cozzi rode the wave, revisiting the 12 labors of Hercules with the Hulk himself. Even Turkey got in on the act with Altar. The barbarian international league was born, and went so far as to colonize children's imaginations with a line of toys with a surprisingly adult spirit: Masters of the Universe. This brief and little-documented cinematic trend is often referred to as Conansploitation. Barbarians, from Conan to He-Man looks back at this curious phenomenon and muscular epic in 256 large and richly illustrated pages. Discover the production and shooting secrets behind the best and worst productions of the genre: the four cinematic adventures of Ator, the Italian barbarian, or the Deathstalker saga, plunge into the marvelous universe of Beatsmaster or Yor, the Hunter From the Future. Have fun with the genre's clichés in the graphic chapter: "The art of being a barbarian", and discover what separates Conansploitation from the original work of Robert E. Howard, the father of Conan, thanks to an interview with Patrice Louinet, one of the greatest Conan specialists and translators. Barbarians: from Conan to He-Man is released simultaneously in an international English-language edition and a limited French-language edition. This latest, outside this campaign, will only be available in the Masters of the Universe collector's edition. The cover of the French edition is based on Ruggero Deodato's Barbarians (1987), while the cover of the English edition is inspired by the French theatrical poster for Tonino Ricci's Thor il guerriero (1983). The author: Claude Gaillard is a French author specializing in popular culture and cinema. He has published (sometimes under a pseudonym) numerous books with Huginn & Muninn/Dargaud, Vents d'Ouest/Glénat, Omake Books and Pulse Edition. Published in 2022, his After the World Ends (in French Retour vers les futurs), devoted to post-apocalyptic cinema, has become a reference work for a wide readership, from the US to Australia, going through Norway, Sweden an Finland. Allocation of funds

The purpose of this campaign is to pre-order the book Barbarians, from Conan to He-Man and the films Masters of the Universe and Barbarians. We have chosen to organize this campaign on KissKissbankBank rather than a classic pre-order on the Sidonis or Pulse Video websites, to give our project greater visibility and reach out to people who love The Masters of the Universe and the Barbarians films, but are not necessarily interested in the latest blu-ray and DVD new releases, or who are not (yet) familiar with our respective labels. Once the initial 100% campaign goal has been reached, the project is fully validated and the books and the blu-ray/DVD combos are relased. On reaching 200%, a Barbarians badge is offered to all contributors - STRETCH GOAL REACHED! At 300%, we offer a sheet of A5 Conansploitation stickers and two Masters of the Universe stickers with special finishes - STRETCH GOAL REACHED!
