Naguara

But what does Naguara even mean?

Naguara is a word from the Venezuelan dialect that brings Jesus, the director and co-writer, closer to his roots. It is a word that expresses surprise, joy, anger or even fear, all of which we seek to generate in the viewer ... This project represents the opportunity to be able to tell a story that would certainly have never seen the light in his country of origin. The writing brought together two friends around a desire to build and share a universe.

It meets the modern needs of our generation, thanks to its short format that can easily be viewed between two appointments or while in public transport.

Pitch :

A young teacher sees herself ignored from one day to the other by everyone she encounters. When she feels the most isolated, she meets a man who finally notices her. They do not yet understand that they are pawns of the young employee of a multinational that has devastated the order of desires on Earth.

The creators

Jesús Alejandro Acevedo is a master's degree student in film directing at EICAR and working in the communication’s department at Sanofi. In France since he’s nine years old, he has mastered Western cinematography and has nourished the dream of completing his own project ever since.

After studying law and art history, Nicolas Nahon prefers to devote himself to more personal projects. He and his friend François Leclere (the story-boarder of Naguara) began the creation of a website, Roubl'Art, devoted to their passion for art and their creations.

Passionate about writing, Nicolas immediately invested himself in the project. He also painted the poster that you can see below.

Like a fable, the viewing of the first episode may evoke religion in some people, but also capitalism by presenting characters who have enough power to influence the lives of mortals. Renan particularly aims to give a life lesson to the humans. He is a divine storyteller who wants to convey his vision of the world. He influences the destiny of mortals as he pleases and by fulfilling some of their most intimate wishes.

Thus, the unbridled pursuit of fulfillment of our wishes and desires that is growing in our society, love, individualism or power, are ideas that we want to evoke in an anachronistic and playful way.

The main challenge is to get the viewer to ask questions about the physical presence of our main character, Cassandre. We try to suggest her absence through the kind of isolation that can be felt in big cities, Cassandra's very real invisibility.

The introductory scene of the character for example, where she’s ignored in a tobacco shop, could happen to any person living in Paris, without being invisible.

We have embarked on an ambitious challenge. We have succeeded in bringing together a motivated team and we hope that it will inspire you in the same way.
