My name is Alice, I am student in NCAD (National College of Art and Design, Dublin)
With my classmates we are organizing an end of the year show and for some of us it will take place in a private house in Dublin during 48 hours, the 4th and 5th of May. It is for us a way to put art outside the galleries and make a stand on an (a)live art. Each artist exhibiting is also invited to give a talk, a workshop, to perform...
During that show, I will use the kitchen because after a series of throat infections I focused on my diet and wider on our feeding process. Moreover, as I feel my body as my meeting point with the world, I thought I wanted to create a meeting point for few bodies. A meal!

And that's here I need you to make it possible, I will invite for each meal during this 2 days maximum 30 people to come, sit and share around a table composed with one chef's help.

The Sunday dinner may be served with the 'Irish Pineapple Ale', a craft beer from the not yet born Medusa Brewing Co.
We will work as far as possible with seasonal products bought from local producers on the theme of diet theories like macrobiotic, blood type theory, raw food diet...we might well offer a humorist revisit of modern painting trough the plates (abstract expressionist painting - Jackson Pollock, abstract art - Wassily Kandinsky, colorfield painting - Mark Rothko) but we are still in progress on that point! ;)
Overall, the idea is to create a convivial moment, my only answer to what does that mean to eat. Then, my research will be exhibit on the wall and each meal will be in purpose only a proposition and open to others questions. Yours.Theirs.
Each meal will be an invitation to get together and share. The chef and myself will be the hosts, visitors will be our guests. We will eat all together (guests+hosts), as we will be making the art all together (viewers+makers).
At the end, I will publish a booklet about the process: my research and interviews, the event (photographs and feedbacks)
Otherwise, I will lead a one hour workshop on body awa/kening/reness.

Allocation of funds
First BIG question, in what way is it art?
Yes, it is not a painting, a photograph or a sculpture but it is an action. The one to invite, to create a meeting point.
There will be pleasure for the eyes, of course, the chef is here for that! There will even be pleasure for the noses, for the taste buds...the chef is really good at that! but all that will be ephemeral...
More than tangible I prefer my work to be an energy, a live experience given to the visitor.
Some artist as Rirkrit Tiravanija or Jennie Moran also use their practice and the meal time to gather people.

Second Big question, you are a student, isn't it too much for you to ask?
I use that precious time of being a student in which we can make mistakes to experiment as far as I can. I think that is part of the artist's activity to find founding to be able to make their projects. I begin from now.
Third big question, what is the money for?
One, I need to pay the flight for the chef - a return ticket. He will come from France to offer me - yeah, true that, offer me - his help.
Two, really important, it will be used to feed 30 people during 5 meals with quality products bought directly from local producers !!!!! After a discussion with the chef, we came to a 4€/person budget for the breakfast 9€/person budget for lunch and dinner. (2 breakfasts - 2 lunches - 1 dinner, each x30 guests = 1050€)
Three, if possible buy some disposable tableware, sustainable and compostable! I will after the event offer to a farm to use it as compost.
Four, the website and the bank take a 8% of the collect! Good to know!
Here is the project's budget in a perfect world, where everything happen how I planned it. As you can see, what I need is way more than the goal I set. So if it is reached, please, keep going!
Of course, I will have to adjust my project depends on what I have been able to collect, and what happen.
As it is a non-profit making project, based on purpose on a other-than-money exchange, rewards will be part of our energy!!! Hope you will enjoy them anyway!!!
