RED MONDAY, the short that breaks the silence on bullying.

How much does the past influence our present? A barber's mental health will be put to the test by the return of his past. Behind his smile lies a dark and dreadful truth. Synopsis: Italy, 2025. In a context of increasing violence and crime, Matteo, a young man, walks into a barbershop for a complete haircut and shave. The barber, Luca, welcomes him and seats him in the chair. Retro jazz music accompanies their conversation until an uncomfortable remark from Matteo triggers a flood of suffocating memories in Luca. Flashbacks of his painful past overlap with reality, pushing him to commit murder. Luca drags Matteo's body into the storage room, where other corpses lie, evidence of the darkness that has always lurked behind his apparent smile. The sound of the bell snaps him back to reality, and Luca, still trapped in his trauma, prepares to welcome the next custom Why was Red Monday created? In recent decades, various studies have shown that the psychological consequences of bullying experienced during childhood can persist into adulthood. Anxiety, depression, and panic attacks are just some of the long-term effects of what psychologists define as genuine childhood trauma. Globally, over 30% of young people aged 13 to 15 report having been bullied at school, with cyberbullying rapidly increasing, especially in developed countries, where it affects 15-20% of victims. This is why Red Monday was created: the short film aims to explore the concept of trauma and how it impacts an individual in adulthood. Our goal is to use this project as a tool for raising awareness, employing an innovative and original approach with a language that resonates with today's youth. With Red Monday, we aim to raise public awareness about a truth often left unsaid and bring to light what lies behind appearances. Luca: Luca grew up in the Tuscan mountains, surrounded by nature and silence. At just six years old, he discovered an unexpected and surprisingly enjoyable passion: cutting, brushing, and styling hair. His first "client" was his father, on the morning of January 6th, during Epiphany. That moment marked the beginning of many he would spend with scissors in hand. Despite being a frail child, Luca possessed extraordinary inner strength. He loved reading, studying, and delving into every aspect of the world around him. However, growing up, he had to face tough challenges. Among the most devastating was a bullying incident at camp, where some peers decided to leave a lasting mark on his life. That event, along with continued harassment at school, pushed him into a deep state of stress, manifesting as severe alopecia, leaving him bald by age 14. With the support of his family, Luca seemed to have overcome those traumas, at least to those around him. But another tragedy shook his young life: the sudden death of his father. This event profoundly changed him, leading to a drastic transformation. With the help of his mother and some psychologists, Luca managed to get back on his feet. It was then that he decided to honor his father's memory by opening his own barbershop. Cutting hair was not just a passion but a way to move forward and find new purpose. His hands, once trembling with grief, became steady and precise again. Now, his goal was clear: cut, cut, and keep cutting... How can you help us?
