Salamandr: French Ecodesign Editor

This project was launched by a realisation; a majority of us are aware of the environmental changes that are currently taking place. Therefore, most of us want to change things: the issue is essential for the world of tomorrow and change is necessary. The changes that are being made in the way we live, work and consume are the first signs of this. The consumer must become a Consumover.

The Project:

Salamandr is an ethical and collaborative platform for editing design creations.

The Operation?

Step 1: You choose a creation in our pre-purchase catalog.

Step 2: The creation you have chosen has been pre-purchased enough times to be launched in production: Congratulations! You will receive your order soon and you are now part of our Premium members. The creation is put in our collection catalog of the season.

As Premium member, you will participate in the selection of creations proposed in pre-purchase for the following collection: this is the Design Lab°.

Our goal is to offer you a responsible and ethical alternative: working with committed designers, innovative and non-polluting materials to rethink your interior in accordance with yourself and your environment. Renewing design and allowing you to get back to basics, your well-being, while ensuring the quality and durability of our products.

We wish to offer a new generation of design objects:

- Highlighting the qualities of bio-sourced materials, renewable raw materials, that our designers sublimate into objects with a captivating design.

- Offering consistency between form, context, function and material used. Elegant objects that have a soul, tell a story and respect our planet.

- Fitting into their environment with a reduced ecological footprint.

Our creations come from natural materials and innovative technologies offering a dazzling design.

- Offering an eco-responsible alternative, integrated into a circular economy and responding to the current changes and needs of our society.

This creation, between sculpture and functional object, is an experiment on a material. It is also the result of the meeting between Gwenaël Prost and Camille Mazure, Designer Ceramist whom we will tell you about very quickly...

Benoît Gaignard

Born in 1989, Benoît Gaignard studied first at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Le Mans. Then in 2011, his curiosity for design led him to work for several months in Eindhoven in the Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe agency. A graduate from EESAB in Rennes since 2013, he sees design as a space for research and exchange. He directs his practice accordingly, as a cross between skill, craftsmanship and experimentation. He draws his inspiration mainly from unique subjects, random processes and his agricultural roots.

Gwenaël Prost

Thanks to his degree, a Master 2 in design, Gwenaël Prost discovered the potential of folding. He then decided to devote himself to the development and study of this technique, particularly through fabric pleating. Gwenaël Prost is a member of the Center for International Research in Modeling by Folding (CRIMP) and the French Movement of Paper Folders (MFPP). Co-founder of Collectif PLI, a group of artists working on folding, he is now exploring new ways of approaching this practice. The research on folding continues to fascinate him, bringing him to the limit between art and science which, for him, characterizes design.

A graduate of the European School of Art of Brittany of Rennes with an option in design and holder of a BTS in Design Production, Thomas Dellys is a designer based in Rennes since 2013, working in the field of object design, furniture design, scenography and interior architecture. Experimentation, new materials, the way of living are as many issues that he tackles through his creations. Very much attached to craftsmanship skills, he continues today to develop handmade projects, using local materials, in collaboration with craftsmen.

A graduate from the Brittany European School of Art in Rennes, Marylou Matharel is a designer based in Rennes. To answer the problems of our daily life, her challenge is to take into account the constraints and characteristics specific to our time, to analyze concrete situations in order to bring functional answers, without forgetting the aesthetics and the poetry of the objects. She has great interest in creating functional, convertible and modular objects to enhance the interaction between object and user, while providing comfort through easy use.
