My goal is to cycle across the globe and share my professional dance experience with different people by making stops at designated locations such as schools and villages and spending time with locals, performing to the communities there with a further possibility to teach workshops.
I aim to start the project in April / May 2017.
By cycling around the world, I want to share the extensive knowledge that I have gained as a professional dancer with others.
The idea of combining my love and passion for dance as well as my love for cycling in one single project first came to me after I went to India to perform with ‘ŻfinMalta’, in 2015.
I witnessed first hand the extreme differences between social classes and it was then that I realised that as professional dancers, we mostly perform to people who can afford theatre tickets rather than to those who don’t have access to dance. This was when I felt the need to reach out to people who might have never had the opportunity to experience or discover this wonderful form of expression.
I want to share my art through therapeutic dance/movement workshops and performances with minority groups, people who are marginalised by the social system and those facing the challenges of poverty, therefore after years of training and performing with the ‘Ballet Junior de Genève’ and also with ‘ŻfinMalta’, I feel the desire to move onto a project that is more personal to me.
Another strong personal motivation of mine is that whilst living in a world of high technology, using a bicycle allows me to:
- Be ecological.
- Be economic.
- Reconnect with humans and nature.
- Motivate and inspire people. I believe that my personal adventure will serve as an example that all dreams and goals can be achieved.
For my journey I would also like to strip away all forms of modern commodities (hotels, theatres, etc.) and fully immerse myself in a raw experience of travelling to be shared with various communities.
