But we have to deal with global issues so we cannot continue to produce and ignore these.

We often think about our way of life. We want to change the world, or at least make it a better place. How can we manage to become textile designers and respect our values and convictions ? And how, at our level, can it be possible to play a useful role in world?

When we try to find this sort of information, it is difficult to get. However there are creative people on Earth who are actively engaged in changing the world! So, rather than making a list of what’s going wrong in the textile industry, we want to go and meet those people who have begun to think about new ways to create, innovate and produce.

Our project is to travel around the world for several months, visiting many countries, with a fresh eye, to find designers, creators and craftspeople who are actively engaged in creating a new, sustainable textile sector.

We will create a BLOG to share our journeys and our encounters. In this way, it will be easy to follow us and interact with us.

We will also make SHORT MOVIES, where we interview tomorrow’s textile designers and activists. These movies will be easily available on Youtube constituting an open access documentation, for all textile design students, young graduates and anyone who is curious. The goal is to share the experiences of each person we meet, their successes and challenges, the problems they are responding to and the paths they have taken.

Familiarisation with the portraits of these activists will make it possible for the younger generations who are asking themselves the same questions not to start from zero. So that they can develop audacious and innovative projects inspired by those which already exist.

We will organize a series of CONFERENCES and WORKSHOPS to go deeper into both aspects of the projects :

1) to raise public awareness (schools, associations, students, etc.) to world issues, which concern the textile domain.

2) to highlight current projects and encourage creators, designers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers and students to follow in this path. These events will be followed up by opportunities to meet together and discuss, bringing together motivated people to initiate reflection and action.

We are two future textile designers, Louna and Chloé, who dream of social projects, ecological textiles and of raising awareness of world issues.

Since we first met at the art and design school, Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin, in Mulhouse, France, we have always felt enthusiastic and curious about looking for new projects. We co-created the collective PAMÂL, we organize events, and we are always ready for volunteer for projects

Our different artistic practices are gradually connecting up along the way, with our social and ecological preoccupations. We are always looking for new ways to recycle textiles, waste material, to initiate new relationships, discussions, and to share craft-knowledge by, for example, organizing workshops.

All this enthusiasm, curiosity, and personal engagement could not be contained only at an artistic level. Obviously, this creates a strong link between us as does our love for travelling. Today, we think that discovering the world, its many cultures and meeting its inhabitants is the primordial starting point to deal with world issues and to act as world designers and citizens.
