ALL THE GODS FROM THE SKY is a french "genre film", unlike anything we are used to watch, both radical and poetic, with a very strong and innovative artistic vision. It conforms to the director's previous short film, which was screened and rewarded in some of the most prestigious film festivals worldwide such as Sundance, Los Angeles, Gerardmer, Montreal, Clermont-Ferrand....
Simon, a 30 year old man, works at a factory and lives confined in a decrepit farm alone with his younger sister, Estelle, who is severely handicapped since a childhood game that took a disastrous turn. Despite his deep remorse and the violence of the world that surrounds him, Simon desperately hopes to save his sister by liberating her from the weight of the world. What if their salvation was in the heavens?
ALL THE GODS FROM THE SKY, the Feature Film for which we are seeking your help, debuted in a particular way 3 Years ago. The writer / director Quarxx, known for his previous short films, started writing a full length film, and came up with the script of A NEARLY PERFECT BLUE SKY, which dives us into the paranoia of an anti-hero, apart from the rest of the world. The peculiar combination of melodrama, black comedy, surreal tale and science fiction not being a very convincing asset to draw investors and distributors who are often used to receiving more standardized propositions, Quarxx decided to shorten sail by starting off with shooting a shorter version of the film, without corrupting his artistic vision of the project.
Seemingly Quarxx did the right thing, since one year later, the 33 minute film A NEARLY PERFECT BLUE SKY began a world tour of film festivals and electrified the audiences in more than 80 festivals across the globe, such as SUNDANCE and CLERMONT FERRAND, and was honored with prizes in dozens of prestigious film festivals including FANTASIA in Montreal and the SCREAMFEST in Los Angeles.

Consolidated by the enthusiastic welcome of the film, Quarxx decided to readapt A NEARLY PERFECT BLUE SKY into what it was always supposed to be: ALL THE GODS FROM THE SKY, his first feature film.
A NEARLY PERFECT BLUE SKY was merely a glimpse of what the feature will be. Not only will ALL THE GODS FROM THE SKY dig deeper and concentrate on all the unanswered questions, it will also bring an additional dimension to the characters, and will concentrate on exploring their mysterious and ambivalent facets. The point is we have to make the most of the arouse around Quarxx’s fascinating artistic vision, as french « genre » cinema will be sustainable only if it fuses the intimite visions of it’s authors with the desire of entertainment, just as films like RAW and GET OUT, because institutions are, for the time being, reluctant towards « Genre » cinema. Because the baffling ALL THE GODS FROM THE SKY looks like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Because we want to do everything in our power to contribute to the emergence of a talented film director as well as the diversity and creativity of french cinema. That is why we will fight, by your side, for this film to see the day and go all to way to where it belongs: The Big Screen.

« Five Years ago occurred an important event in my life.
At the time, I was preparing a photo exhibition revolving around « death ». My camera in one hand, I anxiously made my way to the morgue, and found myself face to face with a body for the first time.
A childhood friend had married a doctor who was working in the Reunion Island, which made it easy for me to gain access to various autopsies.
As the doctor made her way to one on the fridges, I asked for information concerning the body’s identity. Veronica. 30 Years old. Her body had been found in her bed. She lived alone with her brother. The social worker had pointed out signs of abuse. We were unable to know if it was a homicide, or if the victim had died of natural causes.
Whatever it was, the brother with whom she lived did not see fit to warn anyone about the recent death of his sister. He lived side by side with his sister’s corpse for no less than 5 weeks.
As I gazed at the body lying on the cutting table, I tried to imagine what this young woman had been through. I felt that each shot that I took of her was a fragment of her life. I wanted to change her destiny, offer her redemption.
I often thought about Veronica during the past 5 years. She inspired and guided me during the writing of this film. I has become committed to telling the story of the ghostly being that had lay before my eyes... »
THE MAIN CAST
Revealed by the Belgian film DIKKENEK, Jean Luc Couchard is mostly famous for his parts in comedy films. He also appeared on screen in films like TAXI 4, LES DENTS DE LA NUIT, DEAD MAN TALKING, BABY SITTING 2.... After having studied at the « Conservatoire de Liège », Jean Luc Couchard begins his career in plays. He reveals his ability of having a strong dramatical impact in A NEARLY PERFECT BLUE SKY.
Estelle is the film’s second main character. Quarxx wrote his script after having seen photos of the model Mélanie Gaydos, who was living in New York at the time. Her abnormal physique was perfect for the part of Simon’s younger sister, that he will have to take care of his whole life. Or until their salvation… Apart from her career as a model, Melanie has also played important parts in a few short films directed by Augusto Giachino and Scooter McCrae.
Thierry Frémont is a famous french actor, constantly on the lookout for complexe and profound parts. He works in films, but also in Television and Theatre. Endowed with a very strong and personal relationship between himself and the parts that he plays, Thierry Fremont received acknowledgment for his hard work on an international scale by receiving a Cesar in 1988, and « Best Actor » at the Emmy Awards in 2005. During his long career, Thierry Frémont appeared in a lot of films such as FEMME FATALE Directed by Brian De Palma, LES BRIGADES DU TIGRE, LA RAFFLE, DJINNS.... And recently side by side with Marion Cotillard and Brad Pitt in ALLIED directed by Robert Zemeckis.
The director: QUARXX
Quarxx, a hyperactive and passionate multimedia artist, expresses his creativity through photography, painting and cinema. Quarxx has exposed his work in galleries in big cities across the world like London, Paris, Shanghai and Pekin.
His films, as his paintings, are full of unusual an extravagant characters. Unpredictable, excessive and sometimes provocative, Quarxx is an artist who attaches a lot of significance to all the images and different shots in his films.
This includes his previous short films, such as the trilogy « Rasta- Kamikaze Bang Bang », « Dirty Maurice », « Zeropolis », and also « Nuit Noire » who was selected in a large number of film festivals and received « Best Director » at the L.A Indie Film Festival. Quarxx’s most recent short film, « A Nearly Perfect Blue Sky », was selected in prestigeous festivals across the globe, such as « Sundance », « Clermont Ferrand », « Gerardmer »...
THE DOP: ANTOINE CARPENTIER
Keen eyed DOP and photographer, Antoine is as much an artist as a technician. He often takes part in singular films, with the will to contribute, by his light and frame, to the film's meaning. Antoine will be working will Quarxx for the second time, as he was DOP on the director's previous short film A NEARLY PERFECT BLUE SKY.
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER AND PRODUCTION MANAGER: SANDRA IANIGRO
After undergoing a cinema orientated production training at EICAR, Sandra starts of in Television and works with important groups such as France Télévisions and Canal+.
Her personal ambition and her meeting with Quarxx in 2014 gave her the urge to pursue her career in cinema, more precisely in « Genre » cinema. Their latest collaboration on A NEARLY PERFECT BLUE SKY was blessed with an impressive welcome in more than 80 prestigious film festivals across the globe, such as Gerardmer and Sundance. After having developed the director’s previous short films (« Nuit Noire », « A Nearly Perfect Blue Sky »…) she now accompanies QUARXX towards the culmination of his first feature film.
PRODUCERS: VINCENT BRANÇON & FRANÇOIS COGNARD
François starts of as a journalist for STARFIX magazine, then becomes the person in charge of film developments at CANAL + SCRIPTS (responsible for BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF (2001) by Christophe Gans, MALÉFIQUE (2002) by Eric Valette, and A PROPHET (2009) directed by Jacques Audiard.
In 2004, François creates a production company called TOBINA FILM.
TOBINA FILM co-produced « Giallo » films such as AMER (2009) and THE STRANGE COLOR OR YOUR BODY’S TEARS (2013) directed by Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani. The production company also produced the thriller PAINLESS (2012) directed by Juan Carlos Medina, and the dark comedy DEATH BY DEATH (2016) directed by Xavier Séron.
Their latest film produced by TOBINA FILM: LET THE CORPSES TAN, third feature film directed by the duo Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani, co-produced with EVE COMMENGE from ANONYMES FILMS in Belgium. The film is adapted from Jean-Patrick Manchette and Jean-Pierre Bastid’s Polar from 1971 and is to be released in autumn 2017. It just premiered in Locarno where the film electrified the Piazza Grande. It will soon be presented in Toronto in the Midnight Madness section.
After having started his career in film distribution companies in France such as Celluloid Dreams and La Fabrique de Films which confirmed his attachment to diversity in « genre » cinema (Time Crimes, Eden Lake, The Descent, The Oxford Murders, Control, Inside…) Vincent specialized himself in production and started working at La Fabrique 2 (LIVID directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, THE PACK directed by Franck Richard), C4 Productions (GIRLS WITH BALLS Directed by Olivier Afonso), and recently To Be Continued (BLIND SUN directed by Joyce A. Nashawati, HANNAH by Andrea Pallaoro which will premiere at the Mostra di Venezia 2017...). Vincent has always served a particular interest for this aspect of french cinema, where he develops, alongside his partner François Cognard, numerous original and creative feature films such as the astonishing All The Gods From The Sky.
Besides the joint effort of three production companies (To Be Continued, Tobina Films and Transgressive), ALL THE GODS FROM THE SKY has the support of CANAL + (the film will be broadcasted on the television channel Cine +) and of the international sales company Films Boutique.
Unfortunately, the amount of funding still isn’t enough to ensure the film’s production. That is why we need you to give us the extra push, thanks to the Kiss Kiss Bank Bank website, to help us complete the film’s financing. WHAT WILL THE MONEY BE USED FOR?
We have, to this day, managed to gather an important part of the budget thanks to different partners, namely:
- The production companies TO BE CONTINUED, TOBINA FILM AND TRANSGRESSIVE which will take part in the financing of the film
- CANAL +: The Television Channel Ciné + pre-purchased the film, and will broadcast it.
- The international seller FILMS BOUTIQUE, which is an extremely active company, will export the film in as many countries possible, in order for the film to be seen throughout the world (festivals, cinemas, television, DVD)…
The film will cost a total of approximately 500 000€, which is very tight budget for a feature film. The modesty of the budget will require a huge effort from the film crew, on all levels. To this day, we carry on our search for funds (including funds from various French regions) but have estimated that to be able to make this film in good conditions and in order to be able to deliver a film at the height of its ambitions, we absolutely need a complimentary push of anything between 25 and 50 000€.
FROM 25 000€:
The first issue concerns le film’s esthetic. It is indeed essential that what we see on the screen is handled with the utmost care. If we managed to raise this amount, we would not only be able to enrich our sets, we would also be able to afford proper physical special effets to the height of our ambitions. We would therefore be able to call on make-up artists who would provide the characters of the film with the strange beauty that Quarxx imagined for them.
FROM 35 000€:
If we managed to raise 35 000€, the amount would concern not only what we see on the screen, but also how it is shown. Indeed, this amount would allow us to provide all the machinery and lighting equipment necessary in order to have a visual render loyal to Quarxx’s vision. Even if our budget for the film is very tight in comparison to the usual standards of production, our ambition for the film’s image is very high and has to stay so. We are aiming a neat and powerful visual render, and for it, the access to good equipment is essential for our technical crew.
FROM 50 000€ AND ONWARDS:
Besides improving the general conditions of the shoot which will globally be quite uncomfortable, we must anticipate another essential part in the making of the film: The Post Production. This includes editing (sound and image), the sound mix, the color grading… And the special effects! In order to carry this film all the way to the big screen, it is essential that we pay special attention to the visual effects if we want to be loyal to the director’s sought-after balance between onirism and science-fiction.
We also find it very important to provide the film with a beautiful original soundtrack, which our current budget unfortunately isn’t sufficient to do so. We believe that music is a key factor for « All The Gods From the Sky » to be as peculiar and breathtaking as it aspires to be.
It is for all these reasons that we need your help. We are going to fight for this film to see the day on the big screen, but for this we need you by our side!

- June 2018: Last adjustments and delivery of the film ready to broadcast
- Autumn 2018: Film's release
