Verity Magazine

Verity Magazine started as the dream of two irish sisters -

A quality girl's mag inspired by vintage beautiful French teen mags, american literary journals, and the British glossies of the 80s and 90s.  We wanted to create a space for girls to share their intimate experiences, their creative contributions, their crazy or not so crazy theories and a place where they could be inspired by fascinating figures. We wanted to stimulate a glazed generation with a tangible object that does not depend on a battery. We have already made a beautiful preview copy and just finished our first 270 page issue No.1 !

The concept is simple: Verity is an interactive, multi-use virtually ad-free print publication. It lets any girl send in her work or be on the cover, featuring her style and tastes through out, and interviewing her as if she were a star. In Verity the ordinary becomes extraordinary, the everyday is poetic and women are treated as thinking, interesting, equal beings who appreciate having a laugh, reading literature and interacting with academic and thought-provoking articles. We are here to provide a community for free-thinking women that use Verity as a way of expressing themselves, their objections, confusion, delight and investigations in this world. And all that in two languages.

Verity magazine is two magazines in one, one in French, one in English. They meet with an unexpected bang in the middle of the magazine at the fashion section. The idea is to encourage French and English speakers to enjoy, improve or learn the other language and as a result get to know the other's true culture, by subtly linking and referencing the content in both sides.

Verity is another word for Truth. We are looking for it, seeking it, begging for it, in a world full of artifice, where everything can be EDITED, and altered. Verity is for her (or him) or anyone who is tired of looking and not seeing what's really there ! ! ! Viewed through the prism of two cultures. What better way to attain the true Verity of a situation?

In the first issue we have an all too revealing look at the Environment and what’s behind all the greenwashing. An amazing article on the place of women in cinema.  We have over 20 pages of fashion, some very handsome pin-ups, news and politics seen through the influence of Star Wars, quantum physics, interviews with Lauren Singer the New York Zero waste girl, Martha, a young London based artist who edited a book of essays on feminism in all its guises,  Melody from Melody’s Echo Chamber, the french ex- lover of Kevin Parker, an amazing piece on David Bowie, an exclusive extract of a brand new french novel, read(her) short stories, recommendations on skin and Steve jobs, some juicy confessions, an embarrassing Facebook date night that ended in fogged up windows and not much else…and that’s not even a quarter of it !

Allocation of funds

We need support to launch the first issue. We have already achieved so much in such a short space of time thanks to the selfless contributions of so many talented young editors, translators, photographers and designers.

To make sure this beautiful new magazine reaches the public the way it should, via traditional distribution in shops and bookshops and online marketing, we are asking for a little bit of financial help from our friends. So pre-order your copy now !

Why fund this? Magazines and media publications, like books, music and cinema,  do have the possibility to make a difference and shape people's vision of the world. For the good or the bad. Women's equality is something of a touchy issue even in 2016, and it's important that asking for and expecting  equality be perceived as something normal.

Creating a space that celebrates the pursuit of truth, equality, respect for the environment and intelligent content is a social act. Making it a beautiful space, is an artistic act. Encouraging people to express themselves and to create change and conversation is an ethical act.

We want different cultures to converge and react to each-other, learn and experiment with new languages because they want to understand the other side.

Be part of and support this new movement !

Like all great revolutions, it starts with one word.
