What's My Name?
Bring Marie-France to life!
What's My Name?
Most people know me as Marie-France but as you can see on my ID, I have nothing written as the first name. I was born in 1982 in DRC (Congo) and back in the days, any french sounding name was forbidden. This how the first name my parents gave me doesn't appear on my ID. After 37 years of hassle, I've decided to make a change and give myself a legal name.
I have to go through interrogation every time I travel, often when I scan my ID at the border it's not accepted and some countries even think I carry a fake ID because they have never seen someone without a first name.
The reasons why you would help:
- I mean something to you.
- I've helped you in the past.
- We shared a good (often funny) time together.
- You landed on this page by chance and you liked the project.
Now it is the time to make a small gesture for which I'll be forever grateful.
What you get in return:
- A lot of gratitude, of course.
- An invitation to the Creatis Party at the magnificant ING art Center, where I will be DJing & the band Saudade is performing.
- Drinks are on me!!
Looking forward seeing which turn this campaign will take!
Your TRUE friend, Marie-France.
Allocation of funds
I'd like to raise funds to legalize my first name on my ID. I have no fist legal name at the moment which made my entire life a hassle when it came to paperwork or travelling abroad. It might seem funny to collect 100€ but I wanted to see how much support I could get from my friends. Isn't it an amazing gift to give someone a name?!! If the amount is exceeded, the rest of the money would go to a non-profit organization.
Thank you for you support.
Marie-France (currently illegal first name)
