2021 - Le premier livre de Jack Solle

Documentary project that attempts to radiograph his time, 2O21 is an answer to the pandemic moment traversed by the idea of catastrophe, which now forms the backdrop of our imagination. Through back and forth between fiction and reality, this dystopia of the present explores the human being and its trajectory as a species, from the dawn of history to our future extinction. As the result of a collective effort, it has been developed in two distinct spaces throughout the year 2020; Martin Acosta’s Contemporary Documentary Photography Workshop and the second year of Photojournalism at the aRGra School, which is run by Emiliana Miguelez. Thanks to them for all their help. I would also like to thank all my fellow students for their constant support. -------- THE BOOK With a print run of 75 copies, this book is an art object of artisanal production, the result of a collective effort. It has been developed in two distinct spaces throughout the year 2020; Martin Acosta’s Contemporary Documentary Photography Workshop and the second year of Photojournalism at the aRGra School, which is run by Emiliana Miguelez. It was conceived in collaboration with the Argentinian publishing house Bulbo Editorial, which also handled the printing, and received design and production assistance from Carolina Luna, as well as from Maxime Déjardin for the English translation. 📷 It will be available in August 2021. -------- TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS The art object (17 x 17 x 3 cm) contains: 2 books of 44 and 60 pages with padded cover 48 prints of 4 x 13 cm 1 poster 15 x 45 cm 1 manifesto 15 x 45 cm 1 photographic film 1 QR code with exclusive access to the multimedia part of the project Pre-sale price of the book: 39€ (instead of 49€) 📷 -------- THE AUTHOR French documentary photographer and visual storyteller born in 1991, working between France and Latin America, Jack Solle has been part of the Hans Lucas agency and trained as a photojournalist at aRGra School of Buenos Aires. Traveller from the outside as well as the inside, his photographic and audiovisual practice approaches the exploration of new territories. In Argentina, he covered the campaign for the legalisation of abortion and taught the power of the image to a group of teenagers from Villa 31, a slum in the capital, as part of the "Urban Voices" project of the Reza Visual Academy. Lately, his documentary approach has become more conceptual, through the development of works that reflect an anthropological and philosophical vision of our pandemic era.

Allocation of funds

The pre-order campaign will allow you to acquire the book 2021 and will essentially serve to refund the production of the book, which aims to cover the costs of manufacturing the 75 copies as well as the shipping costs between Argentina, where the book is produced, and France, where I will be going in August 2021. Thanks to your participation, we will be able to evaluate and adjust the number of copies produced and, if the initial objective of 20 books is exceeded, increase the quantity of books printed before my departure for France.
