We introduced it to African schools in our network and the results confirm what the Chinese have practiced since the dawn of time. In addition to its repellent effect, it also has a preventive action. Thank you for supporting this "Artemisia for Africa" campaign to help us finance the School Garden and Canteen projects with Artemisia annua, high nutritive plants, an energy saving stove and a green coal briquette machine.

We need you to make a difference! The project in less than 2 minutes:

Want to know what our Kenyan students think about it? They have cultivated the Artemisia annua plant for 7 years.

Look a this 4 minute video to understand why this project is a necessity for Africa and how it will help young people to stay in their own country and live a better life.

Ever heard of the famous French couple, Alexandre et Sonia Poussin walking through Africa? Alexandre was saved from a malaria crisis with Artemisia annua. Young people are invited to participate in the development of the School Garden and Canteen: what are the plants to integrate, how do they have a positive impact on health, why is it important to eat healthily, what are the different ways to save energy,...

Allocation of funds

(8% goes to KissKissBankBank (5% to Kkbb, 3% for bank charges))

It includes:

- plants with high nutritional values to offer quality nutritional meals (as you know, in disadvantaged areas, children go more regularly to school if they receive a meal)

-medicinal plants, Artemisia annua amongst others, to prevent and cure malaria of students, teachers and the community around them

-a high energy saving stove which reduces the wood burden of women and prevents deforestation, raising young people's awareness of their role in sustainable development

-a briquette machine to make briquettes of green coal from agricultural waste

-sensitisation workshops to get the youth involved and increase their feeling of ownership towards the project, indispensable condition for the project to have a long term impact (why is it important to eat healthily, why must we prevent malaria, why must we take action to save the planet,...?)

Where? Togo, Benin, Uganda

When? As soon as we have the funds

Through who? Our local partners

With who? The Student Club of the school

Why? IDAY has been helping implement School Gardens and Canteen projects since 2010 in Africa and the results are amazing! Other schools are waiting for similar projects to get started...let's go for it together!

Our experience shows us that the project then develops from schools to schools: students keep 10% of the seeds and take them to the neighbouring school. This is how the project started in Kenya and Burkina Faso in 2010. Today, 7 years later, the impact is incredibly encouraging ... the project has spread amazingly! Let's do the same thing together in other countries!

Direct impact: 3,000 students (1000 students per school), 60 teachers, their community and, by extension, the nearby schools by distributing the seeds and sharing the acquired agricultural knowledge

Anecdote: In Kenya, a group of young people created a mobile nursery to distribute the Artemisia annua plants to nearby schools. This is "encouraging Africa to grow": help is a trigger and the project encourages young people to become change makers and entrepreneurs to make their country a good place to live in. IDAY also helps them relay their ideas and the results of their actions to local authorities so that these projects are replicated in other regions.

Challenge: if we get the funds for those 3 projects (Togo, Benin, Ouganda), we go on for other countries, ok? RDC, Kenya, Burundi....

Each time we reach 2500€, we go on to make another School and Canteen Garden project come true!!!!!!

Project started in 2015 in Togo: pictures of Artemisia annua and kids drinking their infusion to prevent malaria. You see the nursery and the plants ready to be brought to neighbouring schools.
