ATELIER MOOOD : Workshop, Shop & Reading corner

In a few words Hello everyone, I'm Celia, I'm 29 years old and in February 2023 my life will take a turn. — I'm opening my atelier-shop (and reading corner) of ceramics and other beauties in Lyon. Today, I need you to help me fund the construction of this place. — I've been an Interface Designer in the Web for more than 5 years Two years ago I decided to integrate ceramics in my daily life I also discovered generative art with my partner, which consists in creating mathematical algorithms to design works and draw them on paper And recently I have been making dried flower wreaths — I find happiness in this balance between crafts and technology, I like the diversity of these activities, and I am going to open a place that reflects this in Lyon in February. — But before that, let me tell you about the genesis of this project. Everything was made possible thanks to ceramics... Let's go back a few years I started getting interested in ceramics back in 2019. I read and watched a lot (really a lot) of content about it: when I woke up, during the day, in the evening, whenever I had free time. Early 2020 I moved to Brisol, England and looked for ceramic classes but Covid showed up, and only one person agreed to give me the basics of the wheel in a 2 hour session. The next day, I bought a wheel, some clay, some tools and I set up a small atelier in the basement of the house. A tarpaulin covering the carpet, old sheets to protect the walls, high humidity and a small lamp hanging from the wall to compensate for the lack of light... as a ceramist friend of mine pointed out, a real Dexter scene! I threw for hours and hours during 6 months in this basement, trained myself alone and with the help of videos. During these 6 months, I did not fire any pieces because the workshops had temporarily stopped renting their kilns. This allowed me to keep focusing on the throwing technique. Early 2021 I moved back to Lyon, my home town. I set up a small studio in a room of my appartment and went back and forth to fire my pieces at a ceramist's in the city. August 2021 I found a shared workshop. It was time for me to buy my own kiln and start developing my business. — December 23rd 2022 I signed my most beautiful Christmas present, a commercial lease for a place of my own, 19 rue Alsace Lorraine in Lyon, just a few steps from my current studio. My dream was coming true. This space will be my own place but also a place to interact and share with you. The building is roughed in, it measures 45m2, and there is a lot of work to be done before it is fully functional. I want to create a hybrid place: — The atelier area The atelier area will be the heart of the workshop, where creativity and learning come together. It will be equipped with all the necessary tools and equipment for a wide range of art and craft projects. The space will be bright, open, and conducive to experimentation and learning. The shop area The shop area will showcase and sell the finished pieces created in the workshop. It will be an inviting space that highlights my work but also the work of other artists through temporary exhibitions. It will be a great place to find unique and handcrafted items. The small reading corner The reading corner will be a cozy and comfortable space that will be dedicated to the appreciation of comics and graphic novels. It will stock with a wide range of books, catering to different interests and tastes. It will be a perfect spot for a short break, to get inspiration for a new project or simply to immerse in an enjoyable story. — This workshop will be design to foster creativity, learning, and leisure, making it a wonderful destination for anyone who loves art, craft and comics. —

Allocation of funds

Here are some 3D renders I have created to help you vizualise the space! — Where will the costs be? Stage 1 The €7000 will fund some of what I call "the essentials" including full electrical installation, ceiling installation, water source installation and KissKissBankBank fees. Stage 2 If we exceed the first level up to €11,500, I will be able to finance "the basics" including the installation of the heating, the laying of the floor, the creation of a partition to install the kitchenette and the painting of the walls. Stage 3 Finally, if by some miracle we reach €15,500, I will be able to afford "the comfy", such as furniture (workbench, shelves, glazing station, reading corner, etc.), the installation of a metal curtain, and decoration. ― I hope that you will be sensitive to this project and that you will have given it your attention. Whatever you can contribute will make a significant impact on the future of this place and on my own future <3 ― Thank you very much. Célia
