From Paris to Berlin

I left Paris since 3 years, to create, test, hack, collaborate in various fields such as painting, theatre or danse,

3 years in Berlin to destroy and rebuilt.

I quit playing the instruments I've been practicing for many years, guitar and violin, in order to stop reproducing what I learned and start to take some serious risks.

Pavero Debut EP: extraits

Compose the music I wanted to listen to:

It happened pretty often while listening some tunes: "I would have loved to be able to compose this one" or even, in a more pretentious way: "I could have compose that one"

So when I felt that my tracks started to sound good enough and it was the right time to go to the next step, I decided to create, not a sound that I was able to compose but rather, a sound that I wanted to listen, to discover, to be surprised by.

A slight twist in the usual way of composing but a major shift actually. It was also a good way to change my analyse about how we are listening to electronic music

Electronic music ≠ Dance Music

For many people, Electro is to be listen at night while dancing, in a club, from 15 years old until 30 years old.

Well I am not trying to do anything against that, I think it is great but what I try to do with my music, is to involve the listener as a more active part of th whole exeprience, a bit like the classical music in a way:

A nice track is not enough, it has to be meaningful, it needs to have a message in it, be it a question or a story or whatever, it has to tell something. And it doesn't mean you need a special education to achieve that, believe me, after all the films you've seen, all the music you listened to, you already understand music, even if you don't realise it!

Just give it a try, listen to what the music tries to explain.

That is the reason why I call the music I'm composing Narrative Electronica, it has some story to tell.

It is not even new, it is just a reminder.

Pavero?

This is the name of the EP as well as of one of the tracks.

It is a fusion of the names Pavane and Bolero, a double reference to french composers Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Ravel, a huge and obvious influence in my work since ages.

But they are not the only one of course, in this EP, you will meet a bit of Mars Volta, Sirusmo, Dajngo Reinhardt, James Holden, Modeselektor and many more that I uncousciously incorporated.
