Canoe-camping in Canada's far north, sounds, photos... and cello!

We are Camille, Mich&egrave;le and Julien. Together, we have a somewhat crazy project that combines both our professions and our passions!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Camille_Toscani" target="_blank">Camille</a> is a field scientist, who has undoubtedly spent more of her adult life in remote areas doing research on marine animals than in a normal daily life!</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/606554/5aa36974-e5c5-4514-a97b-a1d4e7b9e31e-1562708815.JPG" width="100%" /></p> <p>In addition to her passionate research work, she takes advantage of these usually inaccessible places to take splendid naturalist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/toscani_camille/" target="_blank">photos</a>.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/606555/Capture_d_e_cran_2019-07-09_a__00.42.26-1562708847.png" width="100%" /></p> <p><a href="https://www.juliengauthier.com/" target="_blank">Julien</a> is a composer and field recordist, and passionate about atypical or unusual places and sounds that feed his inspiration. Recently, he spent 1 month living at the <a href="https://www.letelegramme.fr/finistere/pont-labbe/julien-gauthier-l-ocean-inspire-le-compositeur-10-05-2019-12280136.php" target="_blank">semaphore of the island of Ushant</a>, composing and recording sounds. In her many projects ranging from jazz to world music and theatre music, she is a performer, improviser and composer. She is also co-director of a very young classical music festival, the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pg/lasemaineclassiquedulavoir/posts/" target="_blank">Semaine classique du lavoir</a>.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/606557/61161082_10157152362199780_1599955217036607488_o-1562708976.jpg" width="100%" /></p> <p style="text-align:right"><strong>Lusankar Production</strong></p> <p>His first album recorded with the <a href="https://www.soleaduo.com/" target="_blank">Duo Solea</a> (cello and guitar) was warmly received by the critics, and received the 4 stars of Classica magazine!</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/606558/Capture_d_e_cran_2019-07-09_a__01.18.39-1562709008.png" width="100%" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3><strong>The adventure</strong></h3> <p>Camille and Julien have long dreamed, since they met in the Kerguelen Islands, of this project to travel by canoe from Fort Providence to Inuvik, (about 1500 kilometres) in Canada&#39;s far north. Together they developed this project, which is expected to last about 30 days in August and September.</p> <p>They never wanted this project to be just a trip, but they wanted to be able to conciliate it with their abilities, their professional skills, and to have the opportunity to communicate the experience they had when they returned. That&#39;s why they talked to Mich&egrave;le, who is always interested in original projects!</p> <p>During the adventure, Julien will record and be inspired by the unusual sounds he hears there and Camille will take photographs. When they return, Julien will work with the sounds he has recorded with Mich&egrave;le and they will compose together a first work based on this inspiration.
