Hello! We are Camille, Michèle and Julien. Together, we have a somewhat crazy project that combines both our professions and our passions!

Camille is a field scientist, who has undoubtedly spent more of her adult life in remote areas doing research on marine animals than in a normal daily life!

In addition to her passionate research work, she takes advantage of these usually inaccessible places to take splendid naturalist photos.

Julien is a composer and field recordist, and passionate about atypical or unusual places and sounds that feed his inspiration. Recently, he spent 1 month living at the semaphore of the island of Ushant, composing and recording sounds. He also composed a symphony after a stay of several months at the end of the world, in the Kerguelen Islands, inspired by the sounds heard on the spot, which was recorded and broadcasted on french national music radio, France Musique!

He also produced an album of sound creations and soundscapes, Inaudita Symphonia, inspired by the sounds of these French Southern Lands, which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site just a few weeks ago!

Michèle is an eclectic cellist, who flourishes in classical music as well as in contemporary and improvised music. In her many projects ranging from jazz to world music and theatre music, she is a performer, improviser and composer. She is also co-director of a very young classical music festival, the Semaine classique du lavoir.

His first album recorded with the Duo Solea (cello and guitar) was warmly received by the critics, and received the 4 stars of Classica magazine!

The adventure

Camille and Julien have long dreamed, since they met in the Kerguelen Islands, of this project to travel by canoe from Fort Providence to Inuvik, (about 1500 kilometres) in Canada's far north. Together they developed this project, which is expected to last about 30 days in August and September.

They never wanted this project to be just a trip, but they wanted to be able to conciliate it with their abilities, their professional skills, and to have the opportunity to communicate the experience they had when they returned. That's why they talked to Michèle, who is always interested in original projects!

During the adventure, Julien will record and be inspired by the unusual sounds he hears there and Camille will take photographs. When they return, Julien will work with the sounds he has recorded with Michèle and they will compose together a first work based on this inspiration. Afterwards, they will create a mini-concert/installation around this project, with photos of Camille on display, in an intimate place located in Paris or in the Paris region.
