El Paraiso, the free price vegetarian food truck on the way of St James in Spain
<p>Hola, Hello, Salut !<strong> 😊</strong></p>
<p>We are three friends and former pilgrims on the way of St. James, Tony, François and Paul, and we wish to give some of our time and energy to help the pilgrims on such an incredible human experience as the pilgrimage of St. James.</p>
<p>The project consists in turning a caravan from the seventies into a food truck, to offer home-made and organic vegetarian food made with love to the pilgrims in Castilla y Leon, between Astorga and Ponferrada on the « camino francés » (the French way) at free price (donativo).</p>
<p>The aim is to help pilgrims on the way giving them alternative, healthy and energizing food, to share moments of life and offer a place to rest, to meat each other – human warmth with giving and sharing as a main motivation.</p>

<p><strong>We</strong> <strong>will</strong> <strong>offer</strong> <strong>:</strong></p>
<p>☆ Buddha bowls : fresh vegetables, legumes, sprouted seeds, lacto-fermented vegetables, wholegrain cereals, vegan options, using local and organic products as much as possible.</p>
<p>☆ Smaller portions, like mustard tarts, vegan banana spreads, home-made cookies and yogurts…</p>
<p>☆ Home-made drinks : fruit kefir, kombusha, fresh fruit juices and other surprises 😊</p>
<p>☆ The free culinary and artistic expression of the volunteers working with us depending on their nationality and culinary influence.</p>

<p><strong>What</strong> <strong>is</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>way</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong> <strong>James</strong> <strong>?</strong></p>
<p>People from all over the world, of every age, for multiple reasons, get out of their comfort zone to live a spiritual, religious, human experience, to find a meaning to their lives, to reconnect to nature and to their own nature, walking hundreds or even thousands of kilometers on the different European ways.</p>
<p>The « camino francés » is one of the most walked for thousands of years, starting in Saint Jean Pied de Port in France, and ending in Santiago de Compostella in Spain.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>And</strong> <strong>what</strong> <strong>about</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>food</strong> <strong>truck</strong> <strong>?</strong></p>
<p>The food truck « El Paraiso » is being built right now. Since last november onwards, we spend all of our energy to transform it, hoping that it will functional in april 2020.</p>

<p>We are creating a Spanish association for this non-profit activity.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, we have visited a plot of land in the countryside along the way of St. James that would be ideal to park the food truck, and many more things.</p>
<p>Actually, if we would own this plot of land we could build a terrace for the food truck, hammocks, mattresses and sofas for the pigrims to rest, and even yurts, teepees, tents and huts so that the pilgrims could sleep outside but under a shelter, like an outdoor hostel, to stay connected to nature and sleep in the middle of the stars. 😴🤩</p>
<p>This plot of land would also be a living place for the team, and a part of the property would be dedicated to a permaculture garden.</p>

<p>Everything will be based on donations, the home-made food and drinks, the accomodation… our motivation is human beings, not money.</p>

☆ walked the way for 3 months from his home town in Tours to Fisterra (1600 kms) in 2017.</p>
<p>☆ worked as a volunteer in a hostel to greet the pilgrims, cook and prepare the beds for them in La Faba in Castilla y Leon, in 2018</p>
<p>☆ walked the way again from Tours to Fisterra (1600kms) in 2019.</p>

<p>Paul, 52 years old :</p>

<p>☆ walked the way from where he lived in Ireland near Dublin until Santiago de Compostella in Spain.</p>
<p>☆ has worked three years in a row as a volunteer in the hostels on the way.</p>
<p>☆ is walking the way (Via de la Plata, from Sevilla to Santiago) right now as I am writing these lines. He should finish walking the way and join the food truck project in april.</p>

<p>☆ walked the way from Tours to Dax with his female-dog Happy in 2019. Happy got her leg injured, so that they had to stop their adventure…<br />
But !</p>
<p>☆ will ride the way from Tours to the food truck in Spain, with his four-legged companion in a carriage behind the bike !</p>
<p>Departing in mars to arrive in april for the food truck’s opening.</p>

Allocation of funds
<p><strong>Well,</strong> <strong>you</strong> <strong>will</strong> <strong>help</strong> <strong>us</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>help</strong>.</p>
<p>Indirectly, your donations will be used to help the pilgrims, offering them healthy food, a place to rest, a moment of sharing and human warmth…</p>
<p>Some of the pilgrims do not have much money, some of them even walk without any money at all. The fact that we will offer food in free price/ donation will allow all the pilgrims , whatever their bank account, to share the same meal.</p>

<p>We are doing the works ourselves to minimize the costs, however we need materials for the construction and the equipements to cook respecting hygiene norms (PVC coating on the inner walls, stainless steel worktop and sink, fridge and frezer, juice extractor, professionnal seed tray, cooking utensils, furniture for the terrace…)</p>
<p>We are trying, as much as possible, to buy second-hand equipments, to reduce the impact on environment, to give a second life to materials, reduce the costs and respect hygiene norms.</p>

<p><strong>Buy</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>plot</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>land</strong> <strong>on</strong> <strong>which</strong> <strong>we</strong> <strong>will</strong> <strong>settle</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>food</strong> <strong>truck</strong> <strong>:</strong> <strong>15.000</strong> <strong>euros</strong></p>
<p>There is a plot of land for sale in the middle of the contryside, along the way of St. James in which we could park the food truck and install the terrace, hammocks and create a cosy atmosphere.</p>

<p>At medium term, we wish to install yurts, teepees, huts for the pilgrims to spend the night, in the middle of a permaculture garden, where we will grow fruit trees and vegetables which we will use for the food we will cook in the food truck.</p>
<p>This plot of land will also allow the team of volunteers to live there. It is big enough to have a « private » part, an intimacy which is essential for the cohesion and dynamics of the team.</p>

<p><strong>Every</strong> <strong>contribution</strong> <strong>that</strong> <strong>you</strong> <strong>will</strong> <strong>make,</strong> <strong>even</strong> <strong>modest,</strong> <strong>will</strong> <strong>help</strong> <strong>our</strong> <strong>project</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>pilgrims.</strong></p>

<p>The priority is financing the works of the food truck, that is to say 5.000 euros, however <strong>we</strong> <strong>hope</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>reach</strong> <strong>400%</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>our</strong> <strong>objective</strong> to buy the plot of land to install the food truck and start building yurts and tents for the pilgrims.</p>
