Frivoles Petits Plaisirs - Tatted little treasures

CONTEXT

Hello, my name is Cathy and my artist name is Canarithy

I knew how to knit, crochet and sew before I could read and textile art is almost a family gene. I'm also a clothes pattern designer and I love to learn and teach.

Searching new techniques, I discovered Tatting 3 years ago. Unknown in my country, this technique is mainly practiced in Japan, tNorth and South America, Italy and many other countries.

I learned it as a self-taught teacher and I realized that I had a gift for creating new patterns.

Most people who practice this technique follow patterns they find in books and on the Internet.

While joining Facebook groups on this subject, I also realized that tatters tended to do the same subjects all the time, due to lack of innovative patterns.

When I launched a brand new one during a happening, I realized tatters where happy to try a new pattern.

A few months ago, I contacted the editor who has a monopoly on books about textile techniques and offered my services. This editor replied that he already had 2 new books in preparation and did not intend to release a third. I thought that if he published two books, there must be some demand ... These two books are now published and contain no innovation, neither on the form, nor in the content.

WHY WILL THIS BOOK BE SUCCESSFULL ?

By sharing my achievements on Facebook groups, I found that they were successful and I said to myself "why not publish a book myself? The Facebook groups that I know exceed 90,000 members and there is in Belgium a huge margin of progress since the technique is barely known. So I started giving classes, promoting them in craft fairs and via Facebook. I created a group "Tatting in Belgium".

There is also a growing attraction for DIY in general and DIY textile in particular.

This is why I think a new tatting patterns' book with added content (ie with videos that can be seen only by buying the book and registering), in an innovative form will be a success, first abroad and then in my country.

The crowdfunding money will be used to finance the first 200 copies because the manufacturing costs are very high. The sales of these copies will finance the printing of the following and so on. It is in the long term and after several hundred sales that profits can be made. But the most important is the notoriety that this book will generate. It is part of a much larger project on very long schedule (the creation of a center for teaching and preservation of textile know-how).

Detailed

Printing and transport : 3117

Photos : 500

Fairs : 600

Graphics and illustrations : 1500

Translations : 1000

Crowdfunding and bank 8% : 700

Sending the rewards : 500

7,5 % on sales price 20€ for online selling : 300

Legal aspects : 500

TOTAL : 8717

Phases

The first phase, by which I ask 4500 € is to be able to work on photography, booking of stands, illustrations, translations, legal aspects and crowdfunding and bank charges.

The second crowdfunging phase will fund the rest of the costs.

The publication of the book is part of a much larger and longer project: the creation of a training and preservation center for textile know-how. If I receive more than expected after these two phases, money will be used to purchase equipment for this project.
