Thanks to your donations, we will help Needs For Children to work more in the different areas of action that have already been implemented and that they remain successful.

MATERNITY WARD

Needs For Children works closely together with the local clinic called Ejed Medical Foundation in Kumba. Whenever the foundation has a child who needs medical attention, the child is send to Ejed Clinic. But we faced a problem in the Ejed Clinic concerning the maternity.

There were no facilities available for a woman to deliver a baby in a safe way. Ejed Clinic did have a maternity department but it was closed for years since the building was old and there was no midwife.

Needs For Children finds it important that a baby can be born in this world in a healthy way and with professionals around. So the organization did a whole renovation of the materinity ward in the Ejec Clinic and placed a midwife.

The Maternity department was opened again in 2014. There is a midwife who controls the department. She also goes to the remote areas to promote the facilities of Ejed Clinic.

HELP TO CHILDREN IN THE PRISON

Needs For Children visit the children in the Kumba Prison every month. The target group are children from 12 to 21 years. There is a close partnership with the police and guards of the prison. The inmates live in miserable conditions. It is dirty and full Everyone has a spot on the ground to sleep.

During the monthly visit the team of Needs For Children gives education about all kinds of subjects; often related to health problems in the prison. At the end of the visit food or tools are always given.

Besides giving health talks, Needs For Children started a library in the prison. In this way the young inmates can keep themselves educated. They also teaches them handwork to generate income. This ranges from making paper beads to making bags.

HELP TO HANDICAP CHILDREN

The community worker of Needs For Children often goes to the remote villages to search for children who need our help. In this way she also meets a lot of children with a handicap.

Life for them is extra difficult because of lack of special tools. Needs For Children helps them by, for example, giving a wheelchair, tricycle or crutches. Together with the family we search for what the child needs the most.

Handicap children are often seen as a result of witch craft. Needs For Children tries to get this taboo out of peoples mind by conversations with family and local people. This so that the child is not in social isolation. After helping a child, Needs For Children keeps monitoring the situation

HELP TO ORPHANS

Al vanaf het begin van het bestaan van de stichting zijn we erg verbonden met de weeshuizen in Kumba. Er zijn er in totaal 6. Deze worden regelmatig bezocht en waar hulp nodig is word deze gegeven. Dat gaat van een matras tot schoolgeld en medische hulp aan kinderen.

Ook hebben we toiletten, badkamers, een waterput en zelfs een heel nieuw huis gebouwd.

MEDICAL HELP TO CHILDREN

Needs For Children is committed to help children who need medical care. These children can be discovered by members of the team in villages or family themselves ask for help. Medical care is provided in the Ejed Clinic (also known as Ejed Medical Foundation), which works in collaboration with Needs For Children. Medical care is given according to a treatment plan that everybody agrees on. Before Needs For Children helps a child, a case study must be made to be sure that the family certainly has no means to help the child themselves. However, the family will also have to submit a very small percentage to ensure that care is optimal followed and that they are serious.

Some children still need physiotherapy after treatment. Needs For Children partners with the Presbyterian Community Rehabilitation Center who have professionals for that.

Needs For Children is also often called by the Kumba Government Hospital. They call when they have a child in their hospital whose family has no money and the child need direct treatment. The foundation started a collaboration to make this help possible. The hospital pays also a percentage to the treatment. In this way all parties work in cooperation to give the children the necessary medical assistance.
