@HomePage // First Exhibition

@HomePage is an experimental project dealing with the integration of smart connected technologies within private spaces. The “Galerie d’Architecture de Paris” offers us the opportunity to materialize @HomePage in the form of a “carte blanche” that blends interactive and immersive installation with an editorial work.

The name @HomePage finds its origin in the relative dematerialization of the domestic space. Technologies tend to provide all the functions inherent to housing, gradually replacing architecture in its traditional role of function and materiality. Space is reduced to becoming the interface, the screen, between inhabitants and technologies.

From June 27 to July 3, 2019, the “Galerie d’Architecture de Paris” will host the @HomePage exhibition. Second installation of the team, this latest exhibition will display a conjectural experiment of the domesticity of tomorrow. A real invitation at home, @HomePage offers visitors the opportunity to interact with space via different spatial and technological devices.

@HomePage // The experience

Every day new smart objects enter the market and you are free to purchase a google home to make your daily activities easier.

Now, let's look at a scenario where these sensors and their interfaces are an integral part of your home space. Your floor is able to capture your weight and then offer you different alternatives to your diet. These collected data are bought by Weight Watcher, who offers you his new "miracle diet", and Nutella, who sends you vouchers for different product lines. Your physiological information is captured by your environment and informs in continue your living space to better accompany you, orient you. What happens to your intimacy, your right to lie, the notion of private?

What are the future possibilities for the domestic space in the era of widespread connected device use and global networking?

@HomePage responds to a new domestic typology, at the intersection of an acquired material reality and an invasive and inevitable spread of technologies. This immersive and interactive exploration invites the visitor to get familiar with this new domesticity through the traditional programmatic elements of the private sphere. Both inert and activated, the architecture in its materiality becomes the support, the veil (or envelope/mantle/cloak/cover) of this global hyper-connectivity, pushing further the domestic space out of the spheres of privacy.

@HomePage proposes to highlight these scenes of futurity in order to confront urbanites to tomorrow’s spacial challenges. Resulting from a year of research, this project takes the form of an exhibition, supplemented with a publication. The exhibition will take place from June 28, for a week, at the “Galerie d'Architecture de Paris”, 11 rue des Blancs Manteaux, 75004, Paris.

@HomePage // Who are they ?

@HomePage is the result of two years of collaboration between Monica Klink and Constance Picard, postgraduate students in Architecture within the Digital Knowledge department of the National School of Architecture of Paris-Malaquais (ENSA-PM).

Both sensitive to issues related to the shifting notions of intimacy and privacy, where massive amount of data is being collected, they teamed up to confront these issues to the built environment.

Their first cooperation around the development of the Datamorph pavilion has led to a desire to explore these issues from different perspectives. Consequently, the @HomePage project was born, symbolizing the first marker of a joint professional and theoretical practice.

@HomePage // Previous works

Interactive and dynamic installation, Datamorph offers a sensorial immersion experience in a moving space. Winner of a call for projects for the city of Paris, as part of the Fab14 festival, the pavilion was set in the N6 Folie of the “Parc de La Villette“ in July 2018. The user was invited to evolve on an elastic surface moved by inflated and deflated underside elements. Composed of a series of sensors collecting data from the users and its surrounding, the mechanism constantly transform the morphology of the pavilion.

@HomePage // The launch

As part of our final jury, we will be exhibited at the “Galerie d'Architecture de Paris”, for a week at the end of June. This exhibition represents a real opportunity to launch our association, as well as to make our work public to the sight of a group of experts.

A publication as well as several installations will be showcased to unfold in front of the eyes of the visitors our theoretical and practical reflexions on the subject.

Currently surrounded by several specialists from various fields (augmented reality, capture interfaces, animation, architecture, art, publishing, etc.), we only need your financial donations to complete our puzzle.

So we are are asking for your help to bring this project to life, a project that will be achieved in June !

Allocation of funds

The money raised will enable us to make the most out of our work by financing the expenses related to the rent of the “Galerie d'Architecture de Paris”, the operation of which depends on the sponsors of the exhibitors. Your help will also finance the technological and electronic devices of the exhibition. The donations collected will make possible the printing of our research’s publication that will advertise the project. Finally, part of the budget will be allocated to the scenography and logistics of the exhibition.

Goal 150% : In the event of collecting exceeding money, the surplus would allow us to upgrade the quality of the installations in terms of technicality as well as the scenography and editions; this will also enable us to further develop @HomePage communication through the creation of a website, photographic campaign and the complete development of its visual identity.

We are counting on you and hope to see you at this exhibition!

THANK YOU ALL !
