Thanks to your generous contributions to our crowdfunding campaign on  kisskissbankbank.com we have been able to help some of the neediest families of Kasserine Tunisia by donating warm clothing for the school children. We have made 4 voyages so far and expect to continue due to the amount of clothing donations we received. We have also provided them with basic necessities such as shampoo and soaps. We continue to make progress with our project, but we have not yet been able to develop a relationship with one of the elementary schools in Kasserine. We need to locate an association in Kasserine to partner with in order to access the schools in this region. At the same time, we have made a contact that will allow us to provide aid to an elementary school in Sidi Alouane, south of Monastir. Through a French contact from Nice, who now lives in Tunisia, and supports our project, we have been put in contact with a retired school Director from Mahdia (who worked in the US for three years), who now volunteers his time to teach English to the less fortunate school children.  He is very interested in our project and has put us in touch with a Tunisian Association in a village outside of Mahdia that is interested in a partnership with us. The association is run by the Mayor of the commune de Sidi Alouane. I am scheduled to travel to Tunisia next week with more clothing donations and expect to meet with them to discuss how we can work together. I should have more details regarding the next steps of our project by mid-March. We also have the possibility of putting together small group tours of the dessert around Douz in the south of Tunisia. Our desert guide will provide transportation from Monastir, one night of tent camping in three different locations, traveling to each by camel. Transportation, meals and lodging all included. April is the best month for this tour due to the weather. A percentage of the fee will be donated to our association. Anyone interested should contact me for details. Most of you have received your rewards by now, but for those of you who have not yet received your rewards, please be patient. Our next visit to Tunisia will be in mid January to bring over some much needed winter clothing. We will be bringing back your rewards with us and will send them out as soon as possible. Thanks to all our generous contributors. We are getting closer to our goal, but time is running out. We only have 18 more days to meet our goal in order to receive our funding. Please help us improve the daily life of the children of Kasserine . This mountainous region of Tunisia gets very cold in the winter. There is no school transportation, most schools have no electricity and no drinking water. The children attend school under difficult conditions. We will be donating clothing to help them stay warm but your donations will enable us to buy water and basic food staples. We also hope to buy bicycles for those far from school and eventually help improve school conditions. We are counting on your generosity!
