ALBUM "JAKE" - MEDI & THE MEDICINE SHOW

Description of the project "Jake" I am Medi & The Medicine Show, a singer, songwriter, producer from Nice, France. I crossed paths with Jake Raggio in 2017, singer and songwriter from Knoxville, Tennessee with a generosity of spirit like no others. Touched by the sincerity of his lyrics, I blended my melodies with his words. And it wasn't long before our songwriting talents gave birth to many songs. In 2020, and not surprisingly, the health crisis pushed us to be even more creative. I continued the writing sessions with my ally of words who has then become my friend. The songs took shape and we had the feeling that an album ready to be recorded was in our hands. On March 19, 2021, Jake Raggio suddenly passed away, leaving behind him an unfinished project. The musical heritage was so rich that I felt I had no choice but to record it, in memory of my friend. The day after, it was an evidence for me to lock myself up in the studio, play music, produce and sing the strongest and the best I could. The words Jake once wrote and handed me, all had a new meaning. As I was recording them, I was sending the demos day after day to his closed ones, to my closed ones, to comfort us all at first. Music a true friend to us all in such life experiences. And their feedbacks made me realize how important a song someone once wrote need to be sung. So its message can be shared with one another. I decided I wouldn’t stop until the music wouldn't be completed. Thus was born "Jake". A collection of 10 tracks written and composed by Jake Raggio and I. Songs that I was able to perform, produce, mix and master thanks to a great team of people. Franck Boreill assisted me in the first stage of recordings in my Nice studios. He also played bass on a couple of tracks. Alexandra Miller joined me singing beautifully on a few tracks. When the pre-production stage was over, I handed the music to producer and mixer Nicolas Quere, mastering engineer Mickaël Rangeard. They both helped me reach the specific sound textures these songs needed. My beautiful Dime On Music label team played an important part throughout the recording process. Marion Latore, Jake's fiancee was by my side day after day and gave me the feedback I needed to know I was on the right path. And last but not least, I was able to sing a few of the songs with Jake as I kept safe in my hard drive recordings of his vocals in demos we did throughout these past years. This album is an ode to the life I love, the life that pushes us and gives us the crazy desire to go out and play, sing, dance, laugh, transmit, love and share. This is a posthumous collaboration of two friends, songwriting partners who no longer belong to the same world but who will remain forever close. We started playing a few shows with my band and are planning to play a lot more. The music is now recorded. The words are now sung. Now these songs need to be yours. For this we're gonna work on the visual contents of "Jake" and start promoting, sharing this story as far as we can. A story I'm now ready to share with you. With your help. Born in Nice, Mehdi Parisot, Medi & The Medicine Show is a multi-instrumentalist, singer songwriter and performer who’s self titled debut album was produced by Dave Stewart, founder of the band Eurythmics, and released in 2006. Shortly after, Medi put his musical talents at the service of other artists. He became the guitarist of the queen of electro, Emilie Simon, then drummer and arranger for Charlie Winston, with whom he travels the world following the huge success of their album "Hobo". In 2011, as a true leader of a spirit "soul", "rock and roll" and "feel good", Medi released a second album without his Medicine Show this time. "You Got Me (Moving)", produced by Tony Berg and featuring collaborations with guitarist and producer Blake Mills and legendary organist Mike Finnigan. The album's lead single, "How Would You Do It", was a hit and was followed by an international tour of over 100 concerts, including a headlining performance at Japan's iconic Fuji Rock festival, where the single reached number one in the charts. A third album entitled "One Is Not Enough" is released in 2014 and it is during this year that the artist from Nice joined his hometown and founded his own label "Dime On" with which he will release "My Life", Ep named after one of the songs that compose it and which will reach the million streams. Also known for his talents as a producer for artists such as Ben Mazué, Frero Delavega, Joyce Jonathan, Grand Corps Malade with whom he has had many successes, Medi spends most of his time in his Nice studios writing the soundtrack of a career already so full. It is in these same studios that "Jake" was born, a project to be released in 2023 and co-written with Jake Raggio, an author from Knoxville, Tennessee. An ode to the life he loves, the life that pushes us and gives us the crazy desire to go dancing, laughing and singing. On stage.
