"Alright, that’s enough, it’s time to grow up…" - One of your parents, just before forcing you to get a job and kicking you out of the house - Almost 6 years ago, we officially opened the doors to the Meltdown Bar in Marseille (13), your gaming and pop culture bar, after 9 months of hard work and countless construction delays caused by incompetent workers (which means us, along with a few friends who helped… we’re not in construction, so cut us some slack). Nine months is a long time—it’s the same as the theoretical gestation period of a human baby. So yes, you could say this bar is our baby. Six years—that’s more than a presidential term—and a lot has happened in the life of this bar. Some bad things to start with: the Yellow Vest crisis brought its fair share of economic worries during the very first year. Then, as if that crisis was just a warm-up for the trouble to come, bam—COVID! And that hit everyone hard. Businesses struggled financially, and people—us and you—struggled emotionally and mentally. Despite it all, we’re still here, and rest assured (or not), we’re staying. Over these six years, we’ve also experienced plenty of great things that helped us overcome those crises and inspired us to do even more. Crazy parties, incredible encounters, and amazing customers, some of whom have become friends… in short, YOU! You who have always been there, you who now live only in our memories, you who drop by occasionally, and you who are still here daily despite Lucas and Skip’s efforts to scare you away (rumor has it they keep a running tally). You’ve embraced this place and what we offered, making it YOUR spot with its unique vibe. Today, at six years old, the Melt’ needs to grow, and not just a little. We have ideas, plans, and dreams. Some are feasible, others less so (like building a Death Star). And this is where you can once again add your personal touch. There have been many changes over these six years. Changes to the menu, the decor, the themes for our events, and even the staff… Seasons come and go, people change, trends shift, but the Melt’ stays. Well, not exactly… The Meltdown is becoming Kappa! (Talk about a blunt announcement!) "Today, let’s study puberty." - Your biology teacher - We had a choice: renew our franchise agreement with Meltdown, close up shop, or go independent. Since the first option was no longer viable and the second was out of the question, we were left with the third… until we met Hannah and the team at Kappa Bar, a franchise straight out of the land of flat-pack furniture (don’t worry, the bar won’t turn into a labyrinth where the only way to survive is to join the staff to avoid becoming a meatball served to other future "customers"). Kappa Bar is Swedish entertainment at its finest! Born in Sweden, this concept reinvents the bar as a place where relaxation, fun, and a uniquely welcoming atmosphere come together. It’s simple: provide a space where everyone can gather, enjoy high-quality offerings, and escape reality—whether it’s over a drink, a game with friends, or by attending surprising events. Behind this innovative project is Kappa’s Swedish team, experts in Nordic entertainment who know exactly how to transform any space into a safe and welcoming environment. With them, it’s all about Scandinavian hospitality: efficient, authentic, and fun. Their mission? To make sure every guest, first-timer or regular, leaves with unforgettable memories… and perhaps a taste for our Nordic specialties. Get ready for our famous "IKEA cocktail" (we won’t spoil the surprise, but you’ll remember it!). "What are we doing tonight, Brain?" - Pinky, one evening - So, where does this leave us, you ask? Okay, let’s get to the point. You’ve got it: we want to keep going. We want to give you more. We want to execute our plans. But we can’t settle for what we have right now. The bar, as it is, has run its course. The furniture has seen too many butts and greasy hands. The ceiling and walls need color. Our aging eyes need better lighting. And your favorite bartenders need new equipment. We want to improve the space and raise our quality standards. We’ve said it before—we’re changing the brand. We also want to overhaul the decor, furniture, menu, and maybe even our underwear. We want to change everything! Well, not everything. The spirit remains, the current staff stays, and most importantly, YOU will stay. Oh, yes, you will. You’re going to want to. And honestly, you won’t have a choice. But for all these changes, we need funds. In other words, we need cash, dough, money, bucks, coins, moolah… you get the idea. "Why don’t you go to a bank instead of begging for money?" - You, while reading this - It’s simple: we don’t want to deal with banks. They didn’t believe in the project back then. Everything was financed with personal funds from the three partners and their families. And now, we refuse to give them a single cent in interest. Yes, we hold grudges. Rather than fattening the wallets of those who wouldn’t take a risk six years ago, we’d rather turn to you and give you the chance to be part of this place’s evolution. Of course, we’ll offer rewards that we hope you’ll love. And if you don’t? Don’t give! Simple as that. Or give without expecting a reward—that’s even better, just for the joy of helping.

"Wasn't there anyone else?" - Skip, after hiring Lucas - On Romain’s resume, you’ll find a PhD in conviviality. If you run into him, don’t hesitate to ask him to show you the tattoo on his back. We asked Michaël what we should write about him, and he told us to mention the time he fought Chuck Norris. (He won.) For 5 years, Lucas has been holding down the fort at the bar. Want to know more about him? Just look up the definition of perfection. Yoann is our social media wizard, the genius behind every stylish post. Legend has it, he’s related to Charles Aznavour. If you don’t like him, you can call him Benji; if you do like him, call him Benjamin; and if you’re rude, you can whistle at him (not recommended—he’s 3 meters tall).
