The Story

Spring 1930, a luxury train along the Danube to Budapest. In the cosmopolitan dining car, a modest English dancer meets a Belgian businessman. They decide to become lovers.

The author

Bogdan Hatisi is Romanian, born in Egypt, he lived in Germany before arriving in France twenty years ago. With THE BABYLONIANS CANDOR, he signs his first film. For years, he has shot collage-videos in his living room, which served as work premises to the current film.

He is also an actor, especially in the Company "Les Chines de Navarre".

A word from the director

This story of unexpected encounter on a train passing through the pre-war continent allows me to talk about today's Europe. This Europe is like a collage of identities, landscapes, languages ... A collage that may sometimes turn into violent encounter, sometimes to grace.

In our world that confuses reality with truth my project proclaims throughout his artifice.

The unreal of perception, the lie of reality, but the truth of the need to link and exchange.

Thus illusion remains the locomotive of the story.

The illusion of inertia and movement in a train.

The illusion of self and others.

The illusion of images and cinema.
